Gallinamamma, you may no longer have chickens but you still have chicken friends. Owning chickens is not a requirement to post on the Michigan thread. I will continue to look for your posts as you are always welcome here. You should also come and join us on June 25th. At the risk of sounding redundant, you don't have to own a chicken to eat one.

Sorry things didn't work out for you with raising chickens, but you are not alone in having things turn out different from how we would like. Sometime it seems like I am constantly having to change and adapt. I had thought that life would be easy when I reached this age but if anything it is more difficult than ever.

I know I speak for many others when I ask that you stay in touch with us.

I have to agree.
I also have to say that Opa is someone whom I admire greatly and I think he is very helpful and wise and has a lot of good advice.

darn back spasims and restless leg. Is there such a thing as restless arm? Cause the spasims in my legs are in my left arm tonight. I guess I will be calling the doc tomorrow. Christopher Columbus!

The garden is in with room to spare. I may put in Raspberries or dewberries or something.

My chicken house is maxed out. I hope to build a separate bantam house this summer.

I felt so bad for my chickens tonight, infact I was pretty worried. They all went to roost and were standing up there panting with their wings hanging down. I had every window and door open that I could, but I had to close the "screen" door and lock it for the night. I think I'll go buy a box fan and find some way to hang it outside the big window and keep it on low blowing cool night air into the coop. Is that a good idea or could it be bad for them? I though the breeze would also keep the mosquitos from landing on them for very long. The window I would put it outside of is under the run roof so it wouldn't get wet if it rains. I would only turn it on when it's horribly hot for them.

Sachi, one of my chinese cresteds has become the BCM flock guardian. He is totally captivated by these little black chickens. He doesn't care about the others, just always keeps track of the black babies. Today when it was about 90 I was in the house but would peek out the window to check on the chickens who were free ranging all day. Sachi wants to be out with his babies but I was worried about him getting overheated so I went to see where they were. Couldn't find him or the BCMs until I walked around the pond to the other side and found them in the cool shade of the woods. He was just laying there keeping a vigilant eye on them as they searched for bugs. What a good boy.
