Now that the flock has been pared down to just 3 BSLs, it sure seems strange. The 3 seem kind of lost but are adapting to having more room. They even put them selves to bed in the coop and not in the garage.

Neighbor is still on a tear about everything. I think she hit the "change" but she's acting like a pre-teen girl.

Oh man this was such a busy weekend...and I barely accomplished anything around the house.

All the new birds are settled in and adjusting well...lovin' them all!
Do we have a page set up for pictures? I was bad and forgot my camera but have been trying to make a point to watch for pictures to show my husband who couldn't make it.

I am so disappointed that I arrived so late and missed a lot of people.
Next year I will be sure to do a trial run so I know where I'm going!
Thanks to Opa for "talking me in" and for his help in organizing the event. Thanks too, for everyone else who helped.

I would absolutely love the recipe for the Peanut Butter cake.

Also, I mistakenly left my favorite pair of sunglasses in a white plastic bag with paper plates & forks I'd brought in case we needed them.
While the plates & such were a donation, I would really appreciate getting the sun glasses back, of course I'd pay postage. The bag was on a bench, by the food, until the food table clean-up. I think they were undiscovered in a the bag and went home with leftover supplies.
Thanks in advance for their return if anyone comes across them please PM me.

Great location Opa, it was a really nice park and with water & bathrooms to boot!

We brought the chocolate chip cookies in the plastic tub. Here is the link for the recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/perfect-chocolate-chip-cookies-americas-test-kitchen-387119.

I
usually triple (yes!) the batch, bake 2/3 of it and freeze the rest of the dough in scoopfuls. Then, should the mean hungries attack, pop the frozen scoops of dough on a cookie sheet, bake a couple minutes longer and you have instant satisfaction! Something else I found out with this batch, MIX IN THE FLOUR BY HAND. Do not overmix or the cookies turn out flat and runny (like these were). Also, I used milk chocolate chips and walnuts, but you can also use semisweet chips and pecans if you prefer. Oh, and DON'T OVERBAKE! Take them out when the edges just start to brown. Hope you enjoy!

Congrats on your babies! Please post pix. I am looking for a brown red, too!

Well, I'm both angry and very sad at the same time.

My beloved Sunny died tonight. I'm trying to type through tears.

She was her comical, sweet self all day til Aric went outside after dinner to give a treat to the pig. He came in and told me to come outside because there was something wrong with Sunny. She was just laying there and not quacking whenever she saw someone and one of the call ducks was picking on her face, generally a sign of a weak animal if they don't pick back. I went up to her and pet her and she didn't get up. So I took her out into the yard and she wasn't standing or anything. Things got worse pretty fast and she died 15 minutes ago with me holding her.

I am mad because I know what it is. Not long ago I had a cayuga that was a mess because our 3 Swedish mix drakes have a bad habit of tag teaming the hens. But once I put the cayuga in the extra large dog crate for a few days she was fine. Thing is, Sunny can't fight back because she didn't have a top beak. As I sat with her tonight I knew she had a neurological issue by the way she was flailing her head around and couldn't control it.

We have sat there and watched those 3 tag team hens while they're in the water, to the point that I think they're going to kill them. I've told Aric they need to go but he likes them. Sure they're pretty but now I'm just downright angry!

He says he'd rather find a place where they can all go together. Not sure if that's an excuse because no one would take on 3 drakes. I'd just be happy to re-home 2 that would certainly help!

I'm going to miss her following me to the barn, being louder than all the rest when it's time to eat (no forgetting to feed everyone because she was a great alarm clock!) and her jumping for treats. Today was treat day so at least she got her favorite...grape tomatoes!

Oh man keyt, I'm sorry. I know how much you loved her. I don't blame you for being mad. I'd want them gone too. Maybe it's time to put your foot down and tell Aric he can pick one to keep.

I've tried that. But then he comes back at me with all the other ducks (25) are mine. This his and hers thing is getting old. Yes, I'm the duck fanatic here but Sunny didn't have to die because of 3 ducks that are just crazy. They belong somewhere with more room to run around. It's not as if they don't have enough hens either. One starts to get on one hen, then the other 2 drakes come along and join the first. Literally it's one holds the hens head down, another grabs the neck and the other does the duty.

If those boys don't go soon, I'm letting everyone free range. If he wants to keep his pretty lawn he better find a place for those boys to go. That's how ticked i am!!!
