Does anyone have black copper marans? I have 2-3 broodies and would love to have some chicks or fertile eggs -

Well, I got the branches in my back yard dragged to the fire pit to burn, but still have to do the front yard. Today I started the process of getting rid of mites in my coop. I caught each chicken and administered 1/4 cc Ivomec orally. That will deworm them as well as kill the mites. In 10-14 days I will retreat. I caught the four roosters first and dosed them, then threw them out to free range. That kept them from attacking me when the girls put up a fuss about being caught and dosed. As I did each chicken their reward afterward was to go out to free range. Figured the fox wouldn't come around with me in the coop and the dogs running around the yard helping me. That was much easier than dusting or dipping so we'll see if it really gets rid of them. Next steps are to clean out the coop, fog bomb and dust the inside and add fresh sawdust. Please, please, please let this be the end of it!

The long hood doubles as a scarf, which is ideal, as a normal scarf would get stuck in my wheels. I'm not exactly the shrinking violet type (I had my wheelchair reupolstered in red satin and black lacework) so I needed a coat that can compete with my red hair and red chair.

Hello everyone! Had some catching up to do, I love reading over the posts I missed the past few days, its like visiting with old friends.
All doing well here the kids the dogs and the chicks, I guess Ill throw the hubby in there, hes well fed and bathed regularly...lol.

So sorry to read a few have had bad luck latley, I try to bank good karma, for the times when shi* just hits the fan...lol.
So ummm my girls are between 16 and 17 weeks old no eggs yet..when I give them treats I threaten them with a stock pot, its not working,lol.
They now come when called I wonder what the neighbors think of me yelling come and get it Soup, Pie and KFC, not to mention nugget, Patty and Baked..lol
I did the monthly coop tear down and clean out yesterday it was hot, Opa I did not glisten i DRIPPED.
Its hard to clean it out now the girls adore us and every time I stop moving they climb all over me, darn birds are getting heavy now to.
I have a female dog in season right now and my teenage boy dog is driving us up the wall hes so obnoxious, someone is getting fixed. Have to finish showing the boy first soo guess its my working girl.
Shes 3 years old anyways and I don't plan on breeding her, shes to tough for most pet homes and she would throw that temperament I am sure. Love her to death but she is tough omg...I always love the hard headed ones the most ug. Probably why I married a Army man..lol. Everyone have a wonderful week! A Happy safe 4th and god bless.

Another point that a friend of mine found to be a point of reinfection with mites was her compost pile. The mite eggs would hatch out on the compost pile and then any bird or critter that visits the compost pile and lands or runs through the chicken yard would reinfest. So if you compost, you might consider treating the compost pile as well. For what it's worth.
