A pot of dark roast coffee is in the carafe and right now is probably the best time for drinking hot coffee we will have today. The forecast for the upcoming day is less than comfortable. I'd sit around in my birthday suit if I could but someone would probably ask why my clothes are so wrinkled.
you know something is wrong with your chicken obsession when you look back on the past years photos and you see you have more pictures of your chickens than your own children.

Mine are doing the same thing. The boxes are all poopy and good for nothing for when they get ready (old enuf) to start laying. It's the closest place for them to roost when they come thru the door at night so I should probably rearrange also. I took the actual perch outside to see if the Chante's would get up on it when they're tired of Mousse following them around. Put Opie on it and he sat there for a couple minutes, then he jumped down. The others walked up to it and cocked their heads and eyed it up and down, I could hear the gears clanking.

Id babysit them in a heartbeat for ya RaZ, it's the distance that stops me. Wouldn't charge ya a penny.
Gonna be fun when I hafta leave for 2 weeks and go to deer camp, I'll worry too, but we have a couple great kids in town (2.5 miles away) who take good care of our dogs for us. They'll be good to the chickens too, but they can't just set here all day long, I know they got a life. Their parents are very focused on the kids and check up on what they're doing. They might bring the littlier ones down to see them (chickens) a couple times and see what the older boys actually do when they're here. We pay good and the parents make sure they DO the job without having to look over their shoulders every minute either.
We're actually giving some of the venison away to family and fr iends, I found a neck roast fr om 2006, time to defrost and use whats in there.

Oh I LOVE this one, I'd go broke if I printed all the photos I take of my birds. I use them as background pics on my computer and c hange em out all the time.
I've set up a make shift mister in the corner of the run. I hope it doesn't get too wet in there. hmmmm. I also got them some sunflower seeds while I was at the feed store, they seem to dig those. One of them yelped with joy when I tossed the seeds in the coop (or I scared the mess out of her but i like my first assumption).
Some of the girls are hanging out in the coop so I should probably but some frozen jugs in there, just in case. Its just so dangon HOT! I had to come sit under the fan for a minute. Ok....back out to the coop.
