Our chicken egg production is cut in half and we've had no duck eggs for 3 days. This is the weekend we have 3 regular customers stop by. Only one of them got his 3 doz chicken eggs, the others I had to turn away. I felt so bad.

Speaking of which, isn't it too early for moulting? I noticed yesterday 2 roosters and 2 hens all have new growth!

I found Poultry Nutri-drench, a 4 oz bottle for 6.99 at TSC today, so you'rs should have it as well.
They don't carry Dietomaceous Earth tho, I checked all over the place and finally found it at Grains & Greens, a health food store. $4.49 a pound, for small portions and I got the last one left. They are getting more in and it comes by 5# bags there. I don't know if the store puts it into the small celophane sacks, or if they get it in that way as well, but thats what I got, a small celophane sack.
And I also picked up a fly trap thing, where you put the bait liquid in an oild milk jug, fill 1/2 full of water and put a trap cap on it. I hung it out in the coop. Supposedely you can catch 35,000 flies in a gallon jug. Yippee. Hope it helps keep the flies down in the HOUSE.
All my babies have the drench in their water now, feed filled, duckie pond filled up fresh, everybody loves me......

Yeah, Ive read the warnings about the stuff they use in swimming pool filters, BAD NEWS, Im grateful for all the threads on this site, I've learned so much from everyone.
I figger'd 4.49 was high, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I did stop in a local elevator in Kawkawlin, but they'd just closed at 3 pm so I missed em.

Well our roosters have been rehomed to our friends place for now. At least one was starting to get his crow in order and practiced at 6 am.

So we decided to move them all before the neighbors got fed up with it.

We're looking for a new place with more land, more space between us and the neighbors and some out buildings. We're in no hurry to move, but BF has wanted more land for a while now. He'd like to see all the stars again and not hear the droning hum of the highway anymore, something you can't get with a Wal-Mart down the road and I-75 a half mile away. He's also talked about getting mini goats or rabbits if we find a house with enough land, starting a small hobby farm of sorts.

I think I have corrupted him with my chicken fascination. He definitely wants to try getting olive colored eggs by crossing one of the BCM roos with our Americauna, so we'll either need more land so we can keep a roo around, or we'll need to have a chicken play date at our friends place.

But the huge field behind us used to belong to his family and I wish it still did. But, the neighbor next door (the biggest fan of our animals!) owns about 3 acres of that land and he's talking about fencing it in and getting some goats or cows or something to play with...and so he won't have to mow the lawn

I called the other tractor supply in Lowell and they told me they don't carry Poultry Nutri-Drench either (try saying that fast 3 times!....sheesh!) I'll stick to what I have for now but Opa might have to be our Drench dealer. lol

I only recieved one egg from the main girlies and a bantam baby egg from the cochins.....again not a good egg production day. :: slumps ::
