Ok, I can take a hint. I will be getting an incubator for Christmas so no more waiting for a broody hen. I still have not had a hen go broody for me this year. DH is going to close off part of a shed for another breeder pen.

It'll be next spring (I gotta get a coop for the 'scovies done
and one for the turkeys that we will get next year) before
I'll be ready for them.

No problem, It will be at least February before I try to seperate the diferent breeds anyway.

Here is a handy symptom chart I found http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044#TABLE_1 and treatment http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044

I
hope your girl pulls through!

The only symptoms I have noticed so far are:
- White/yellow mucous and cheese like substance on her tongue and the roof of her mouth.
- Difficulty eating/drinking, she tries but it seems to get caught, making me think there are more spots of gunk in her throat.
- Odd breathing, she puffs her neck out just below her beak when she breaths, which also makes me believe she has gunk in her throat where I can't clean it out.
- Occasionally she tries to spit the gunky stuff out, it looks a bit like she's tasted something bad and might vomit.
- Her crop feels near empty, I have offered her some softer food but she's not taking it thus far.
She's also not laying, but I think that's a symptom of being broody for the past two weeks, which may have saved my other birds from contracting it, since she wasn't sleeping on the roost with them. She's only come out of the coop on her own for the past couple days.

I had read a few posts here suggesting an iodine wash to help sanitize the throat, cleaning what can be reached out with a q-tip and hoping for the best. BF was wondering is perhaps a peroxide wash might benefit her by cleaning out the lesions.
I'm guessing I should vaccinate the others to be safe. Where would I get vaccinations for pox?

If this were my bird, I would take her to a vet. Sometimes you need the right medicine at the right dose, at the right time to avoid losing that bird or even losing your whole flock.
If you are in the G.R. area, I recommend Dr. R. Bennett at the Animal Clinic, 133 28th Street, Wyoming Michigan. That is near 131 fwy and 28th street exit. God bless you and your birds.

I was just talking to my DIl's mom yesterday and asked her where she takes her exoctic birds too and she said that she takes them to Dr. Bennett on 28th st. In a pinch she will go to Cedar Springs but much prefers Dr Bennett.
Good luck Ferret

My Muskovy's are 4 weeks old and I am looking for places that want sweet little duckies. I HAVE to get rid of 8 . I am keeping the 3 little girls who look like their Momma. Black iridescent wings (green) and a white tummy. She is beautiful. The others are Silver grey herringbone.... like the Dad. I have a CSA that is taking 4 for bug and insect patrol

but still need good homes for 4 more. Any takers?

If worse comes to worse I will take them to Fowlfest but that is a bit away time wise........

Maybe you can help suck out the gunk with an infant aspirator? Looks like you can order vaccines from a hatchery http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/pox_vaccine.html Hope it helps!

Hello stranger- Hows things going? Missed you here!!!

Krisrose took her chicken into Pytel Vet Clininc in Goodrich on M15. Only vet that would look at her chicken. Maybe he can give you some advice if you don't want to take the bird in. Also, did you try firststatevetsupply.com He's the "chicken" dr that I think you can e mail him and he'll e mail you a reply. Good Luck. I know how frustrating it is when you have a sick chicken and can't find a vet.
