Good! Thanks for keeping us updated on how she is doing. If she is eating and alert, that is a good sign.

Wonderful news! Sincerely wishing you and your birds health and well being!

I have found that my hens like to lay down a bit at night, so using a 2X4 board as the perch/roost has worked well in giving them a place to really rest their chests.

Mine to do the same thing except that roost on TOP of the upper nest boxes, covering them with poo. I am going to take them down. In talking to Kathy (who I think is MrsChickendad) she asked me if my boxes were higher than my roosting bars....and they are. Until I take them down, I refuse to fight them on it. I was taking them all off one by one every night but it was such a hassle and they caused such a ruckus I just let them be.

Must have a slanted top so they can't roost on top of the boxes. Easy fix.

Hey Raz, did you hear anything else on this? I live in Lapeer and we go to the fair every year. I haven't heard a thing about picking up chicks there though? Unless it's the human kind

If it's the fuzzy ones I need to know!

I haven't heard anything. I saw the billboard driving north on M-24, somewhere south of the freeway. It had pictures of peepers and the date, but nothing else.
A location would be nice...

I'd like to buzz up there for it and try to pick up both kind of chicks.

I have had a few folks ask me for some Delawares. I have a trio that I am willing to part with that are right at 9 weeks old. They are from Kathyinmo's stock. If anyone is interested please pm me.

How many hens do you have? You probably don't even need a second row of next boxes.

11. 2 Jersey's, 2 BR, 2 RIR, 2 Brahma which ARE laying, and the 3 Chantecler hens. 2 roosters.

AW, I would LOVE Delawares but too far away. I think I'm pretty well set now with my 11 hens and 2 Roos, I should get rid of one of the Chantecler Roosters tho, I don't want anyone getting hurt. Love them both, sweet boys, but eventually they'll start fighing over girls. Anyone interested, they are 14 weeks now and beautiful.
