Buffy Update... No eggs are coming out... BUT she did poop... Is that a good sign? Or can she still poop if she's eggbound? It looks like normal poop too... So maybe not egg problem but Like was suggested, and she hurt herself a little when she laid her first post molt egg?

The woman at the desk told me point blank that I had to bring in each chicken if the poo was positive or they would not treat and that the initial visit for each bird was $78. I love my chickens but I'm not going to mortgage the house to treat them for worms. Maybe they treat established patients better and maybe if I would have gone over the front desks woman's head they would have changed their mind. I don't know because the test was negative.

They did do the fecal check without seeing the birds. I will continue to have my chickens checked for parasites but will look for a cheaper place. $20 a check is pretty steep when I can get my dog or cat's poo checked for $4.00.

Let me know if you find a place that is cheaper. I was planning to call Cascade Animal hospital because I heard they treat birds. I can only say that when our fecal test was positive, I brought one hen in for exam and was given medicine for all of my flock.

Yeay! One of my EE's laid this beautiful olive green pullet egg! I hope all her eggs are this dark and pretty.

They're beautiful eggs and nice sized too! After seeing all the various EE eggs pics on here I think come next spring I'm gonna get myself 1,2, maybe a few of these EE gals!!

Hubby and I did alot of work out in the kennel/coop this pm. It was hot out there too. Rearranged some of the hinges so doors can swing differently, HIS dogs are getting 2 of the kennel stalls now, and my dozen chickens are getting 3, I think thats fair, hahahahaha:ya
Now I have 3 separate stalls so Im thinking of what kinda baby chicks I'll want to raise next spring.
Since I only have the one JG now, I'll have to order and incubate eggs, but I know I can raise some Chantecler's, got hens and roos of those.
And of course I can raise mutts. oh what to do, what to do, what to do????

Bought a portable garage today at Harbour Freight. It's part of my grand scheme to convert half the garage into a winter coop.
The tent garage is up and the hay bales have been moved into the garage to make a wall that will be the chicken coop.
Still have to do a good bit of reorganizing to get things back into the garage. Right now the Harley is sitting in the driveway. THere is something wrong with THAT picture.

Thanks! Blanche is still in the nest box. I know for sure now she is broody. I let all the chickens out into the yard this evening. Kicked her out of the nest box and she went right back.

:: sigh :: Hopefully with me taking her eggs and golf balls she will get the hint.
