Have fun with that. I have two BR boys that crow constantly. I think it's time to find a new home for one of them. They are huge beautiful birds. I showed one yesterday at a county fair and nobody believed he was only 4 1/2 months old. It's my secret feeding routine I claimed! One is darker bard and the one I'll keep is a silver barred. I hate to part with the dark one but two roosers crowing non-stop will drive the most seasoned farmer to (use your imagination)

I just read the township ordinance and I guess I'm about 7 times over the limit. I'm going to go right out and get rid of most of my birds. Yeah, right.

Opa! I just now noticed Opa chickenobi under your name!! What a hoot! I know I left off part of your "title" but couldn't remember it....(memory goes first you know). That was good for a chuckle to start my day. Thanks!

I am getting two little fuzzy butts for my broody white maran!

Question: How do I present her with the babies? Do I sneak them under her tonight or can I just give them to her now and she will know what to do?

I was told that loss of memory was one of the things that happen when you get old and I can't remember what the other things were.

Speaking of old, my remaining dog is 16 and she certainly knows how to spend her days.

Babigryl, put them under at night. The younger, the better. Not only must she accept them, they must imprint to her.

We successfully gave our broody hen 4 chicks the night of the day they hatched in the incubator. Good luck.

Wow! The responses have been great! My data base is growing by the hour.

I must say that I'm somewhat jealous of you that have your flock openly. Mine are stealth chickens and I had to get rid of the roo when he started to crow. I really do miss that sound. It was great for drowning out the road noise and lawn mowers.

Speaking of chicken noise...my dominant BSL hen has been sounding a funny clucking off and on. I hope it the start of the egg song. Of course they all start a chourus when the sparrows empty their feeder.

Opa - I saw that you got a BYC Spirit award. Congratulations.

Raz- I just emailed you. I think my chickens are legal, but don't know for sure. My motto: don't ask a question you don't want to know the answer to.

I am wondering where at Meijer you all are finding mealworms. I have checked the 2 stores that I service and they don't appear to carry them, and the team members I have asked don't think they do either. I am looking at the pet and wild bird sections. I think someone said they were Kaytee brand? Are they in a bag or a plastic container? I have been reading up on mealworm farming on this site and just might try it. Thanks.
