Krisrose and I went to Brown City to pick up my new Blue Orpingtons. They are beautiful! Had a very nice visit with Shelleyb and her son Logan. Shelleyb has the most gorgeous birds. Hope everyone had a good day.

Oiy! My girls are not happy with me today. They did not get a scoop of scratch today. They got crumble instead but according to them it is called "grumble".
And that is all they have done today whenever I step out in the yard. A handful of pellets was mostly snubbed and they all ran over to were the mealworms are stored and stood there begging.

Maybe later if they change their attitude.

Isn't it amazing how they try to have us trained? I know when I go open up in the morning, I had best be prepared to feed the morning treat, cuz they WILL and DO follow me all the way back to the front door, up the steps chirping and talking the whole way! Needless to say, I now make sure I save the left overs for the morninig treat instead of the night treat... Cuz they usually get the fruit at night. I hate to see what happens when I get scratch for the winter... Oh, I can just imagine...

So, Olive Hill, What do you suggest we feed our hens? My 4 hens are finishing up Dumor finishing grower but they are also laying so I give them oyster shell. Treats are melon rinds and leftover oatmeal, things along that line. They free range part of the day. They are very healthy and happy & the shells are really study. Sturdier than the shells I used to get from the farm eggs I bought every week (although my hens are young still).

Evidently the crew has been getting a lot of scraps for the kitchen cause they not only come running when they see me, but the jump into my lap and peck at my hands. Geesh. Tonight it was peach peels.

I have a friend trying to rehome an Easter Egger Cockeral. There is a pic on Craigslist for Muskegon, MI area. I think he is free to a good home. She has too many boys for her run.
