you could always go get a barking dog thats even louder than what the other neighbors have and see how they react to THAT..hahahahahaha. Thats actually mean, but funny. Its not easy being nice to people who are nasty to you.
Want us all to come over and egg their houses???? heeheehee, Im on a roll.

Wouldnt egging their house be against the law?

Wow. Crazy. Do people have to get rid of their dogs if someone complains about them? Sounds like a city employe on a power trip. What does the ordinance read like? Does it say that they must be remove if there is a complaint?

kaleka....what a rotten thing!! Did you ask WHAT the chickens are doing to be warrant this?? Do you have 150 of them and they are pooping up your yard so bad it smells? (sarcasm there). I don't understand how if it is LEGAL they can force you to get rid of them? It would seem like THAT was against the law!!

That's okay, you are entitled to your opinion, and I still love you and care about you.
The neighbors that lived behind me couldn't see anything in my yard because their marijuana plants were too tall- and the people next to me are so drunk all the time they just thought they were 'trippin' and believe me when I call my chickens African ground parrots. The other side of me neighbors coon hound baruuu baruuu baruuu's all day long so they cant hear or see a thing because they keep their house locked up tight so they can try to drown out the dogs barking. During the day, the neighbors two doors down one way and three doors down the other cant hear my geese-much less my chickens- because their race cars are revving their motors too loudly, for their almost daily drag-races.

I pay taxes and I vote. I have never been given a chance to vote on whether or not I could have a couple hens. Taylor is in dire straights. They have laid off twenty firefighters since June. They are closing two fire stations- they took away highschool bussing unless you live more than two miles away from the school. There are drug rings and dog fighting rings- the drugs are so prevalent that it is not safe to walk down the street after dark on the south-end of the city. The end of my block is an active drug dealers house- they dont even try to hide it as the cars pull up and they exchange product for money all day long day after day. The police have been called repeatedly- they dont care or they have bigger issues. Most of my neighborhood is slab houses that are falling apart. Black mold, sagging roofs, etc. We are not the upscale richer end of the city. We are what is known as "Sin City" in "Taylor-tucky".

I mind my own business and dont bother anyone here. I overlook everything because I have my own escape from the world in my backyard. My animals comfort me and give me peace (cept when Henry is honking in my ear and Penelope is worried because her bowl is only half full) and they are where I go to escape from my job-stress (it starts to wear on you watching animals struggle to live and people not having enough money for their care- and some days, I kill more animals than I help) and its where I go to pray- (God, please let my brother want to be part of my life again, give me strength to deal with epilepsy, bipolar and etc in my children). I cant change the laws here- the city has bigger issues to deal with and I didnt win when I tried ten years ago.
Im not spitting in anyone's face. Im sorry that it may appear that way.

Susan,

Thank you thank you thank you. I can't thank you enough. The peace of mind you have given me- and the generosity you are showing- really means so so much. Homecoming was a success, and my poor old self was out chaperoning until 1 a.m. I woke late- soon as I get some coffee flowing in my body, I will set up the truck. My husband said that I should use THE TRUCK (oooohhhh hear the scary music?) He loves that truck more than he loves me, I think...wont even let it drive through a water puddle. He is telling me to put THREE POOPING MACHINES in there. Because its safe, and my van is crappy. So, I will set up the truck, and then I will go catch them goosers and head out. I am thinking 11-12- is that okay? I think I am just over an hour from you. Please excuse me- I will be a mess.

Everyone have a great day. I hear that we will have nice weather next week. Might just be a rumor...but one can hope.

Good Morning Everyone. Looks like it's gonna be a great day full of sunshine. Hope everyone is able to enjoy it some part of their day! I plan to take full advantage it of with a ride north and to the west a little!

On another note:
Wow....that list is impressive.....Congrats & way to go everyone! I must say...Proud to Be A Michigander!!!

I just PM'd you, Kim, looking forward very much to seeing you and meeting the geese! Whenever you get here is fine. I'm a famous procrastinator, still have things to do to get ready for them. But we'll be ready "enough". I've been reading that adult wildfowl that are not breeding or laying should be on 13-14% protein ration. Since the game bird feed available here seems to be the whole grains (and 15% protein) I think I will start them on the 15% (chicken) developer crumble that I already have, since at least they're used to crumbles. (I know I'll hear about it from Penelope if I get it wrong!

). KrisRose? Olive Hill? Any advice on feed? And should I start offering oyster shell to them yet for calcium or wait till late winter when they're closer to point pf lay?

And Kim, I think we can now conclude that your DH loves you more than his truck. Though I'm sure he is counting on earning some Good Hubby Bonus Points for this. Well deserved, too. But did you tell him the story of me transpoting a 3 week old calf on my lap in the passenger seat of a truck for 2 hours? Luckily the interior was hosable, but it took a lot of work to get it "sort of" cleanish. Tell your DH to count his blessings. Which I'm sure he does.

Kim, I'm sorry you have to part with your pets. I know how much you love your animals. Yorkchick, what a wonderful person you are for taking them. I loved your story. Good Luck with them. I know Krisrose is relieved they found a loving home. She was worried about her baby, but she already is tight with all her geese, turkeys and chickens. Derek, I hope you can fight to keep your chickens. If they're legal, then why do you have to get rid of them?? For those of you who are "illegal", so what? If you want to keep a few chickens in your backyard and you keep it clean, what business is it of anyone? You are not hurting anyone. I could just go on and on about this, but I won't. It's just not so cut and dry as some of you make it sound. It's not ok to keep chickens but ok to egg their house??
