Yes, it's happened to me too. But, Kim is going thru such a hard time and our support would help her thru this. I realize ChicwanaB probably didnt' mean to sound so harsh. I'm illegal, yet Krisrose that lives 2 door down can have whatever. Yes, she has more land than I do, but I'll have lots fewer animals than her, also. There's a elk farm across the street, but I can't have a few chickens on my 1 1/3 acres?? Guess it just hit a sore spot.

Babigyrl22......That is a sweet pic of momma & chick!

Thanks! She now has 4 chicks and one on the way...I think. I think I heard cheeping from the bator.

Wow, thank you for whoever nominated me! I am honored! I didn't think I was deserving (Wayne's World: I'm not worthy!)! I love how many Michiganders are on the list of the awardees!

Kim, and everyone else interested: so far so very, very good with the goosers. They have been very quiet, just a little quiet talk amongst themselves. Maybe they're still in shock. But they've been nibbling grass, had some water, a few polite tastes of crumble (which now thanks to RaZ, I can't stop thinking of as "grumble"), and mostly they followed me around. If I stop moving one or two of them always settle down on the grass to rest, Really no honking to speak of. Maybe they're still a little too intimidated to be noisy yet. But they are so beautiful!

OK, time to go back out and hang with the web-foots again! Hoping they get less "polite" with the food soon, even if it's not exactly what they were used to. The grass and shrubbery seems to meet with their approval, though.

Hi Yorkchick!!
I feed my goosers whatever I have on hand for the chickens. Layene pellets or crumbles, then when the goslings were here I had Purina Flockraiser. With my baby turkeys I had 24 % chick starter and everybody luved that. So now a scoop of scratch, scoop of Flockraiser and a scoop of 24% chick starter. But really just Layene or Flockraiser would be fine. They eat alot more grass than feed. I really dont worry about protein levels. They eat whatever. I have given them crushed shells and there is grit and osyter shell in chicken run they get into.
Mine sleep outside at night in a secure run but I would like to have a shelter for winter. They slept in turkey coop last winter but they are real bossie with turks and chickens.
They are easy to care for and the gander will only be a pain in the spring during breeding season. Homer was a stinker but it was worth it for the laughs they provided!

Glad the geese have settled in, Yorkchick. I'm sure Kim is so relieved and thankful. It was so hard on her, but at least she knows they have a loving home. Be careful of what you wish for!!

Hit a sore spot with me to. Shame I had to go to work but perhaps it was good thing or I would have pulled out the nukes and it would have been bombs away.
I have never voted on ordinances. They are written and approved by the fools on township/city boards know very little to nothing of animals. 10 arces and I am allowed only 16 chickens but as many horses that I want?? I have one horses and his poop output in one day is equal to a weeks worth of poop from everybody else on my property, including me.
If fact, it is time to get off computer and rev up the tractor! Time to haul manure
