OMG. I HATE THAT SILKIE! Ok, for real. I hate Mark. Not that I want to kill him or anything, and I won't be mean to him, but what a rotten very silkie. I have never seen such a rotten rooster. He's only 5 months old and he's a very bully! He's gonna go bye bye. Gonna give him away for free. Put him with a BIG chicken. Teach his fluffy butt a lesson.

Ok. What a gorgeous day out. I bet this is going to be the last nice weekend for a while. AND I bet I won't get anything I need to get done done... I bet a dollar.

My son has spaghetti sauce in his arm pit. Why oh why did I let him have his bath already. Guess its gonna be a double dunking nite for him. LOL. I love 2 yr olds. They get sauce in places you didn't know you could get sauce!

Well. I guess maybe I will go and finish trimming the new trees that are coming up that I don't want to be there next year.

Olive, what are the things to give the chickens for worming naturally again? I know you said pumpkins, and so I gave them one today. No, I didn't do it cuz they have worms. Just a natural preventative. Keep em healthy.

I can not believe how fast my girls are growing. It seems like they've hit a growth spurt. I am going to get some new pics of them. Even Miss Isa, who was sick, she's even growing something crazy! My GLW's are getting HUGE. They have to be the most beautiful birds. Ok, I know thats not true, but they are mine, so they are.

If anyone wants a free silkie rooster for 4H let me know. No, and its not the rotten one.

Pumpkin as a natural wormer? Learn something new all the time on here.
My kids just picked some from out in the field and that is what I was planning on giving them as a treat for tomorrow!!
Please Tell Me......What are some other natural preventives?

Cloves, Garlic, Black Walnuts and DE. Add in Pumpkin Seeds and you've got quite an anti-parasitic repertoire.

Would anyone like a Rouen drake? The real, big Standard Rouen type; not the small, hatchery, production type. He actually would probably make someone's kid a very nice 4-H/show duck. He has a very nice, deep keel but not so over-developed so as to cause breeding problems. He's beautiful and very sweet. He also currently thinks he's a goose as he's the only duck on the property and has taken quite fondly to one of the female American Buffs, but I have faith he would transition back to duck-dom quickly and easily should someone have a nice, species appropriate girlfriend for him. He's vigorous, hardy, street smart. He's been free ranging here for over a year, sleeps under the stars with the geese. I just don't need him and no one here is particularly attached to 'Buddy the Big Duck' so thought I'd offer him up to BYCers in case anyone might have use for him. I can take and post a picture of him tomorrow if anyone is interested.

ETA: Here is some info on the Standard Rouens, vs the Production Rouens (and basic Rouen info, too) from the ALBC for those that may not be familiar. His keel is not as developed as the drake's in the picture and he's not overweight like that either.

Sue, our first winter in Michigan, I stacked bales of straw all around the coop! Made a fortress! It sure worked to cut the wind and insulate.
Last year, I bought the panels of insulation with shiny foil on one side. Chickens eat it. So I had friends help me insulate the whole inside of the coop with that shiny panel insulatoins and then I had to find big pieces of cardboard and cover everything shiny with cardboard. READY for Winter!​
