Welcome to the Michigan Thread Erinlee! Sorry to read about your loss. I think prediators are our biggest worry. Luckily you still have the the young pullets. Sounds like it might of been a sneaky weasel. Anyway, glad you found us!

As for all those out-laws out here........THERE ARE MORE THAN WE CAN EVEN IMAGINE and I'm not just talking chickens. I once saw on the evening news an apartment complex that was burning and the newsman was scanning the crowd of on-lookers and residents who fled to safety on the sidewalk. I never saw so many people with cats wrapped up in blankets all at once. Most places didn't allow animals then so I figured they were harboring illegals.

Welcome to the Michigan thread. So sorry for your loss. Looks like we are neighbors, I am halfway between W.C. and Newaygo. What breed are your pullets? Oh and yes a rooster would help to protect your flock.

Thanks everyone for the condolences. I think it will take a while to get over the shock of this.

The pullets that I have left are mostly all Wheaten and Blue Wheaten Amerucanas. Actually there are 7 pullets and 2 young cockerels. I also have a couple young marans pullets as well. I was so looking forward to having the pretty blue eggs added to my egg basket next year; little did I know that was all that would be in my egg basket next year

Well you can be sure that I will not be giving up the two Wheaten Amerucana roosters, I don't care what my FIL has to say. I truly believe that if I still had my old rooster, he would have fought hard to protect his ladies, and maybe some would have been saved.
