Ally is at the vet. So am waiting for (hopefully) good news.

This is her in her Cone of Shame. Ally does not like the Cone of Shame. But it kept her from licking an already very irritated area, and she'll have to keep it on for 7-10 days post surgery.

After she got dropped off at the vet, I took eight white rock cockerels and two turkeys to a local meat processor. They only do poultry on scheduled days when they get enough customers, and today was the day. I actually had the most fowl of the people dropping off at the time, most everyone else had five or six birds. One cage of chickens looked like spent layers. Another guy had a group of turkeys.

Angela... I am kinda thinking that you have a boy there too. They don't crow so loud, and don't really crow till there several months old... But I think the one with the most silver leakage is a boy... you'll know for sure when his comb come in, about 4 months old..

Surprise! There were 2 eggs in the box this morning.
I'm pretty sure it Bake who laid it, based on her behaviour of yesterday.
All of the girls are 27 weeks old now, so I guess I have a few late bloomers.

I need to get that inside coop finished up ASAP. I've been as lazy as those non-layers.

The vet decided not to do surgery on my dog! Antibiotics have taken the swelling down immensely, and the area is no longer red and hot to the touch. So the vet thought a better course of action was to monitor it, do hot compresses, and keep her on the meds. 'tis a relief that the antibiotics might do the trick as opposed to invasive surgery.

I'm glad that your pup doesn't need surgery.
Maybe a few extra treats to compensate for the cone of shame?

I'm so glad your dog doesn't need surgery. Poor girl, she looked so sad. That cone of shame is a real doosey. I've only ever seen one dog that didn't hate it but she was totally insane. She used her's like a weapon against the other dogs! Thank goodness for antibiotics and pain meds.

I had a silkie with a not-so-great top knot. Everyone swore it was a boy because of that. While there is no trick to figuring out the sex of a silkie and it's a wait and see kind of game, that silkie has yet to give me any reason to suspect it's anything but a pullet. After a molt, there is a nice round puff on the top of Fred's head where there was once a mohawk. Fred is 6 months old so I'm still waiting...
