I have the same timer Chickmate. First set the time in the middle section...then the green pin you pull out and put in at the time you want the lights to come ON (green for go) and the red pin you put at the time you want the light to go OFF. Does that help?

Thanks Fife! The time in the middle is the CURRENT time, right? It really is pretty basic and that's how I set it last time, but it never came on so I figured I did something wrong. Well, I set it to come on a 6:00 a.m. and go off at 9:00 a.m., so we'll see if it works. Maybe there's something wrong with the timer itself. Thanks again for your help!

okay, here's my green noodles!! yes real tiny flicks of spinach are visible. I cut the ribs and stems out, tightly packed 2 cups of spinach leaves, then run thru the food processor with a pinch of salt to bring out the juices, add it to the dough, knead, let it rest, roll it out and cut it. I found the recipe online. and you can make this rack really really cheap!!

nice looking dinosaur eggs, even bigger than what my Lt Brahmas lay with double yolks all the time. Oh nothing like havin' fresh healthy eggs to put in your homemade noodles too.

Chickmate,

There are usually switches on the side of the timers somewhere. On one setting it makes the timer mechanism work, on the other it leaves the light on all the time. Did you check that already? I had one like that once, with the pins. I threw it out! It got too complicated for me.

I think I might invest in a digital one for the coop.

Those costumes were great. My husband looks at them over my shoulder and tells me "Don't get any ideas crazy chicken lady."

The wind and rain went on all day today. Wind 20+mph. About 4 I let the chickens out in the run since the rain had let up a little. Tonight I go out to close up the coop and I'm missing a pullet. Soren, a 27 week Ameraucana. She is an escape artist. There is a foot by three foot gap on the top of my small coop she can get out. Only three girls have been smart enough to figure it out. Anyway I spent an hour in the rain yelling for her and looking in all the hidey holes for her, through lots of tears. She was just starting to act "eggy" and I've been looking forward to finding her eggs. Hopefully I find her in the morning.

My chickens have free access to the outside run. When I came home from work they were all out in the wind and rain, busy scratching and pecking as usual

. They would only go under the roofed part during the deluges, the wind does not seem to bother them at all.
Taprock, hope your little hen shows up in the morning
