25 weeks old and one of our BCM's has finally laid an egg!

The shell was thin and cracked when it landed in the nest box. BF could barely pick it up without breaking it more, so I'll toss some extra oyster shell out for them. They all got left over pancakes for treats today.

I've been busy running up and down the state all month and will be back up north for almost a week, leaving in a couple days. My parents do a small, but popular, haunted house in the yard and I've been helping out since I was a teen. BF and I have been building props all summer and hauling them north over the past couple months.
Monday will be final showtime and it looks like we'll be able to open before trick or treating starts!

We've had to delay opening for the past several years due to falling behind schedule setting up. Everything has been falling into place nicely this year, so I'm more excited than stressed this time around.

Krisrose I am keeping the little Am rooster (he is the funniest little guy) and 2 pullets, so maybe some little blue eggs in the spring, hmmmm?

It must be something with this year's hatch. My young ones are approaching thirty weeks and I think only a couple are laying. Their combs and wattles are all bright red and the Polish roo of the same age is starting to chase them all over (even catching a couple) but still not very many eggs. I guess there's just a lot of freeloading going on this year.

Sorry about your loss Raz. I vote yes on the Banties, that's you getting them not me.

Anybody else ever have this scenario happen to them? You are catching up on all the posts from the day on here and you get to the last page, and think "oh good, almost caught up, now I can get back to what I should be doing". Then it happens, a post from Yorkchick, my house could be on fire and I can't not read that post. That post could be seven pages long and I can't log off the thread until I read the whole thing. Yorkchick, you should really write a book and sell us all signed copies.

Oh the possibilities I have for spring... German NH, Beautiful BR (and that's saying a lot because I'm usually not a fan)... now I just need to find some LF DC and some LF Partridge Cochin Pullets for Rajesh the giant rooster.
