I have been ssoooo lucky with the people I sell eggs to. Only one mentioned that they were cheaper in the stores so I told her she should buy them
! However her hubby is the egg eater and swears by farm eggs. Other folks have told me I should charge more than 2 dollars but I think my customers would dry up quickly if I got to greedy. Them also bring me cartons back

Fife thanks for the interest. Although it must be great to head for better weather, it must also be hard to keep chickens and do it.

Eh. Smooth the hackles, ya'll. You know what they say, what goes around comes around.
It poured here ALL DAY yesterday!! DH went duck hunting in the downpour!! He is out there again and I just heard 3 gun BLAMMS! so hope he gets one. It isn't raining today thankgoodness.
I'm sure RAZ will enjoy those banties...they are lovely and I'm envious.
Enjoy the day everyone...and Keyt I hope your luck turns soon. Quick story about anger and rude people. Several years ago at a check out line I had a very rude, snotty clerk. My anger got hold of me and I said (being snide and sarcastic) "I guess you must be having a bad day".... The clerk burst into tears and said "Yes, she was" and briefly state why. She then apologized. The apology was nice to hear but I felt extreme guilt because I was being snide and she thought I was genuine...AND she had a reason for her rudeness. Granted it doesn't excuse her behavior...but I remember the scenerio when someone is rude to me now. It helps me to be compassionate and feel sorry for them...which removes my anger.

Not sure what my husband thinks of this....he just kinda goes along with anything chicken related...lol I wanted to get a SMALL incubator. What would be a good one? No more than 10-15 eggs at a time. I wouldn't be able to keep all the chicks. They would most likely go to a family member, once they get big enough to go into a coop. I just wanted my kids to have the experience too, of hatching eggs. They LOVE the chickens.
If the incubator is too much $$, I have found numerous ways on this site to make our own. However, that takes time, that we really don't have extra of right now. In the late winter we will have time for it, once hunting season is done.

AngelaB - building your own doesn't take all that much, although at the moment I'm not one to talk because the current hatch is terrible and I'm ready to shoot mine.

My first green/blue egg! Next to an egg from my Polishegger who has been laying about 3 months.
From my horrible hatch, my single surviving button quail. 20 more in the incubator who have done nothing. 2 died one during hatch - it was stuck, too big and breech in the egg. Second died because it got stuck in a corner.
I'm sad for me but the poor little guy really needs some company.
