What a lovely day yesterday, and a not so bad day today!

SO, these silly birds of mine... They don't even bother coming out of the coop now in the morning until I go and let them out! Sheesh! Lazy birds. But OH DO THEY MAKE A MESS! I have been throwing scratch in the bottom of the coop at night when I close up the under run door and the coop door at about 6 pm. Its dark, they are in. SO anyway, I throw in a handfull fo scratch and they really seem to like to throw the pine shavings so hard and high that they are constantly getting in the waterer! Do I have the waterer up on bricks? Why yes, yes I do... To I clear all the pine away from the bricks? To try and eliminate pine in the water? Why YES! I do that too! AND DO THEY CARE! H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS NO! Rotten stinking freeloading feather butted pains in the backside! I swear every day! Both figurative and literally! SO, I am thinking I need to stack another set of brick under the waterer?

AND THE FOOD! These rotten ungrateful, picky balls of fluffy cuteness will not, NOT, eat the pellets! I filled the feed container with a mix of crumbles and pellets because I figure with winter coming and the feed container going to be going in the coop, it would make it easier for them to clean up spillage if its pellest right? YEAH IT WILL! And why will it be easier you ask... BECAUSE THEY WON'T EAT IT!

Well, have they gotta a think or two coming. I ain't spoiling them and going to go and get the feed they like. Holey NO! They'll get hungry enough right? Right. OR else

I need to lock them in the coop and have a stern talking to them about being so picky

Looking out over my little flock of 6, it's easy to see the size difference from the tiny banties, medium BSLs and the larger BOs.
The 3 colours (lavendar, black and buff) are also distinctive.

So my mind wanders to the thought...how cool would it be to have a pair of extra large like Jersy Giant? Do they come in red?

Oh, I want some JG's too, but I don't think they'd fit in the coop! I'd have to build a bigger one just to accomadate them... AND I also want some on them super little chickens... I can not remember what they are called right now... Not the d'uccles... Its something else. You could keep them in the house in an aviary type cage... SOOO cool! Those, I would definetly have to worry about with the cat!

Speaking of cat... I found the drop off kitty a home. I told the people thou, that if he didn't work out with them, to bring him back.

Here is what I had worked on all day yesterday by myself-
I was using whatever I could find in our backyard, and I did not have enough of one color to cover the roof, hence the rainbow roof.

I am hoping for a good rain to wash the dirt off the roof. Please excuse the mess, I am cleaning it up as I build.

Nothing wrong with using and re-using what materials you have on hand. That's how I built my garage coop. The only thing I purchased was a single piece of latice that I used for the door. Everything else was left over from another project, reclaimed, recycled or scrounged from some place.

Chickmate, my California Whites started their molt by loosing their neck feathers first. Is it possible your hen is in a soft molt??
Half decent day. Took the dogs for a long walk. They sure do love their walks. Now that I can walk again, I love taking them. Have a good night.....sleep tight.
