That DNR page with the HAP "leased" land sounds more like what is around my mother's place. I would not imagine they would be down for "donating" anything. Her house is so near a lot of decent sized cities, I worry about tourists that aren't as hunting savvy....

That link is AWESOME. I'm gonna share that with everyone near me that has a flock and sells eggs!

5 pages since I left for school this morning? Ya'll were chatty today.

Got home after dark and checked the coop. Many to see if there were any eggs. Noticed that a BO wasn't roosting with the others. I think it's no big deal, she is probably in the tent coop. Need to get a flashlight and go look. Start walking to the house and hear her cooing. There she is sitting under the utility trailer, not 1 of the dogs even saw her.

She is back in the coop. I'll have to look tomorrow to see if I can tell how she got out of the run.

Stunning eggs! Although, a rock would be stunning to me right now since our only layer has not laid one in over a week! That's normal for the season right?

I second that! I had my surgery done there @ 3 years ago and we were very impressed. My DD had her appendix done there last year and again very impressed. It's one of the reasons we like living here because we know we have a good hospital to go to if need be.

ETA- Now that I caught up with all the posts, I see why you had to choose Carson City so don't mind me. Hope your surgery goes well and you're back up and running before you know it.

Is anyone in this state doing anything with tolbunt or crele polish?

Are there any swaps in nearby states that you know of coming up that are "worth the trip"?

Thanks!

I don't know about running but if I can eventually walk with less pain then it will be worth it.

franklinstreetwest, there are swaps at the local Family Farm and Home in the spring and summer here. Your best bet if you are looking for something right now is to ask the folks here. I have Icelandics, New Hampshires, Delawares, Barred Rocks, and Black Australorps that I will be breeding in the spring.

This afternoon I hear a terrible commotion outside. All the guineas are calling along with the roosters and some of the hens. I go running out thinking there is something after them. Here is my son playing his harmonica for them. I don't know if they were singing along or scared out of their wits!

My Welsummer roo also spurred my son later in the day. He claims he didn't provoke it but after all the noise he was making and the fact he was holding one of the favorite little hens at the time, I tend to think the roo was just doing his job being protective. I have never seen any bad behavior from Wellie before this. I guess I'll keep a closer eye on the roo....and my son.

I'm worrying about my button quail coming through that storm.

They left Florida this afternoon. There's an old song " Say a prayer for the starlings", I guess for the next day and a half it will be saying prayers for my quail. I'm very nervous about birds in the mail since a batch of my chicks were lost last spring.

I had a visit with the Allergist today and discovered I have developed an allergy to several molds. We live in an area with loads of clay in the soil. He also told me when cleaning the coop I need to get a good mask that has charcoal filters in it the kept out everything down to 5 microns.
