wow i lost count of the pages, was only off a couple days....! If any of you are near muskegon that are looking for birds, i have a breeder's #' he's got a LOT of variety! I don't know if he would ship, but we could always ask. Supposedly there's a commercial breeder that my DH's aunt goes to in MI to get her Rhodies too. The guy i know does EE's too, this year he is selling ones with all blue feathers. I was looking at the price of turkeys this year, and wishing i could not think about it and just raise some of my own to eat! No snow here yet, but the birds are already going out less and less. Yesterday it was sunny, but cold and they went back in after a couple hours! (I put their perch in front of the camper's wraparound back windows)

They were like aaahh. i have to admit it was nice sitting in the sun, out of the wind! My young orpington came into lay last month, and i was not expecting it. just keeps it up. My EE's are like nope, none for u!

I am on a saddle making mission for the next week or so. I was wondering what the prices should be, and if a matching egg collecting apron would be cute and sell? Just wondering if anyone on here had experience with this kind of thing. These will be good quality; i didn't skimp on the supplies. I got navy and beige "dobby"check with country stars, and snaps instead of the elastic, cause i haven't had good experiences with the elastic.

not the best pic, but these are ones i threw together while making the patterns. The "real ones" will be far more polished. I would be grateful for any input.....

Fuzzybutt - Hillbilly Hen has been making saddles for a long time, some very nice ones. She might be able to give you some advice on them. The aprons might be a good idea if anyone will take the time to put it on. I usually pull the bottom of my sweatshirt up to form a "hammock" and put the eggs in there to bring them in the house. Can't put the eggs in my bra because . . . never mind.

me neither! i have done plenty of pocket squishing though! it's terrible when you hear that distinct crack; you know it's coming but darned if you can get to the goo quick enough!

Well, Tap, glad you are ok. Sorry you lost your Sunday night dinner though... Hope the guy gets up in a tree and survives a while. Chickens are quite something. There is this guy in allegan, and he doesn't have a coop at all. the chickens just live in the trees! Yeah...

Anywho. The ducks seem to be pretty happy girls. I let them out of their coop for a few hours of supervised wandering. Roger remembered them, came out of the garage and went on the attack. It was so funny. The ducks acted like he was just a tick and ignored him. It was quite funny.

So, does anyone remember the little pullet that I had posted a pic of when she was sick, turned out to be her gizzard? If no, this was her then...

And this is her now

SO, is she still a she? Or did she decided to pull a fast one on me and turn into a he? Here is why I ask, she/he has been mounting the hens, or trying too. AND the roos are not trying to mount her. She just tried to mount my little silkie and took out a bunch of feathers from her back, Roger came to the rescue. No eggs and no crowing yet. But... I don't know. I am thinking she might be going to become a he.

Oh, and here are the newbies

Sorry for the quality, but it was getting dark, and it was with the phone. Any guesses as to what type of duck they are? Aside from messy...

How did the VET not see that?!!! LOL. Its ok. I guess I can try and find him a new home. I was so happy with just 3 for sure roos, cuz Roger is in his own coop, and Oscar is small enough that Mr Fluffers doesn't bother him. My androgenous chicken doesn't act hennish or rooish... BUT looks like I have 5 again! LOL.

SO, I am thinking I am going to change his name from Isa to Creb... LOL. Guess I better find him a new home and soon... 3 roos in the coop could be a problem in a few months... AND I am keep my Faverolle roo.

well, if that's a pullet she has the longest pointiest saddle feathers ever...... And curvy tail..... Looks like a really nice rhode island red roo to me! Pullets are supposed to have short blunt saddle feathers. I don't see spurs, but mabie he's a "late bloomer". My auction "hens" were quite big when they crowed! Turns out they are just trying not to get bottoms kicked by the big daddy. Boy, you gotta give it to him for letting the roos try with him! He's quite the actor:D

My EE's eggs get lighter and lighter as they lay. I keep asking them if they are running out of paint

.
After they take about a month off from laying their first eggs are a darker blue/green color.
