My first batch of eggs I incubated were due to hatch on a Friday. The first came out Thursday night and the last on Monday morning. For me they hatched out according to breed. First were the Cornish x, then EE, last were the Polish/EE. I don't know if it was just coincidence or if breed actually does mean something. But you have a few more days to worry over them

before you should give up hope.

The wind here is nasty tonight and we have gone from the rain to the white stuff! I hope the ground hardens up. My mom stopped last night and got stuck in our mud pit... I mean driveway. Today I borrowed my sisters mini van to do the last of the shopping before Christmas. I didn't dare pull up to the house but came in put my mud boots on and hauled it all in. I'm not sure how I am going to get the 50# bag of feed to the chicken coop tomorrow.

Whew ok. Still nothing this morning. Keeping fingers crossed. The little one that has hatched already keeps going to the eggs and tapping them with it's beak like it's saying get out here I'm lonely lol. Now how long before I take that one out of the incubator?
We have a mud pit here too. I hate it. And we have that nasty clay for dirt and that crap just sticks to your boots or shoes and sometimes gets so heavy it pulls your boots off. I hate our ground.

Oh I'm not going to open it. They aren't due until tomorrow. I'm just worried is all. Thanks.

Babigyrl on this thread just hatched some chicks. I think they can hatch up to 3 days after they are due. Saying a prayer that they all hatch perfectly for you!

Thank you grandma. Fingers are still crossed. Don't know if I can go through this again for anymore. Soooo stressful !!! Who am I kidding, I'll go through it again lol.

I took a tranquilizer twice in my life! Once when my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer and once when we shipped our pet chickens home to Michigan. It took three days for them to arrive here and it was the most stressful three days of my life. And that is saying something! I'll pray that you can relax. Life and death is in God's hands not ours.

Thanks grandma. Nothing picked that I can see today. My hubby said last night that if nothing else hatches the one I did get will be a pretty expensive chicken. I bought the Marans eggs from Texas and had them shipped here. He also said that if that is the only one we get it will not leave here regardless if it is a Roo or a pullet. He likes my chickens as well as I do lol. It is a beautiful blue copper marans but if it is a Roo I don't need it lol. Oh well, what is one more?

RBahmer - I hope you get more than one chick. But I know from personal experience it does happen.
This was Boo our only Bantam Salmon Faverolle to hatch. She was the sweetest most spoiled chick. She loved to be held and would snuggle on my lap while I watched tv.

This is her now. She still remembers the special attention and when I go in the coop she tugs at my boots to be picked up. When I hold her she snuggles in and has to check out all my clothing.

So the point is if you only end up with one, that's how it goes sometimes, but be sure to spoil it! I hope you do get more. I know how disappointing it is when they don't hatch. I tinkered with my incubator and ended up messing it up and lost an entire batch of eggs.

I certainly will IF they hatch. So far just one. Am worried about the others. No noise or nothing in the incubator.

Howdy! Sorry, I've been out of town for a few days. Don't worry too much about them not chirping they may be resting. The ones I hatched out this fall all hatched out 3-5 days late (I think my incubator was a little too cool). I thought I was done and went to grab discard of the eggs that didn't hatch and one started chirping maddly when I picked it up. 5 hours later I had my 5th chickie!

I know it's maddening. I was a nervous wreck when it came to lock down. Even my DH was checking the incubator like 50 times an hour. Chirp at them to see if any respond to you or start to wiggle. I'd love to see pictures.

KeepsPeeps, welcome to the Michigan thread. I know that you will enjoy this thread. Lots of nice helpful people posting on a regular basis.

Southeast Michigan encompasses a lot of territory so I you could be more specific as to location advising you would be more precise.
