What a BEAUTIFUL egg! I have never seen one like that.

R Bahmer - thank you for your input on this topic.
Is your vet available to treat chickens in West Michigan? Can you share her information? Thanks again.

My vet is a small animal vet. She doesn't usually treat birds but I have known her since she was young. Her mother and father have been our friends for 31 years and so she does a lot of things for me she doesn't generally do. But the fact that she has over 500 chickens helps alot. If someone in my area needed her for a chicken I'm sure she would be glad to help. She is about 45 minutes south of me and if anyone needs her just pm me and I will give her phone number.

You can cook them the same way you would any chicken. At six months they're just extra tasty, but not too tough or anything like that.

I found this picture while surfing the web tonight and thought you'd all get a kick out of it. Now THOSE are some dual-purpose chickens.

1) You do personal attacks.
2) You do not welcome all discussion.
3) My skin is not thick and I aint growing it thicker.
No desire to call you names either.
4) Also a facts kind of gal. You dont need to offend people just because science is your cup of tea

Would you mind explaining where you perceive I've personally attacked you and have not welcomed discussion so I can better understand? I'm sorry your skin is not thick. I won't pretend to understand, but imagine it would be very difficult. Like I said I don't mean to offend people and very much hope that you'll expound on what parts of my posts have offended you so I can understand and hopefully clarify my intent.

Ha Those chickens babysitting dem brats while the parents are on a date??

LOL! Wouldn't that be nice... hehe.

grandma, yes that is two roos "talking" my big guy walked over to this guy, and this is what he got. My hens do it to each other sometimes too, and i've even got it a few times. I am still trying to figure out what a lot of things mean. I have kept parakeets all my life, but chickens are way more complicated. I think i got the basics down, except for the different danger calls. This particular gesture puzzles me, though. Also i'm still in the dark about the "egg song" i've heard about. My girls holler for the rooster, and make him stand guard for them, but are perfectly quiet when actually laying the egg.
