Hi opa, I'm going to be in your neck of the woods today - going to webberville later to pick up horse feed at the elevator.

Do you think you will be hatching welsummers this spring? I would like to get either chicks or eggs to hatch in March or early april.

I hope to have both eggs and chicks available this spring however, since I place all the Welsummer hens in with the rainbow flock, and the roosters are in individual cages until the end of March or 1st of April I would have fertile eggs until the end of April.

I've spent some coin on a bird (no more than $10) but I've never seen chicks advertised at $99 per chick. If they can actually sell chicks at that price I need to start working on a breed pen. :lol

It is amazing just how fast it seems this year has past. I have enjoyed having met many of your and look forward to meeting the folks who have joined our happy group. This thread has and continues to grow at incredible rates. I think the reason for this is that anyone who reads just a few of the posts soon realizes that this is a thread frequented with a bunch of nice helpful people. Compared to many others we have had very few problems, few misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Many other threads turn confrontational and ours hasn't. That speaks volumes for all of you. I for one enjoy being a part of such a wonderful group. I hope all of you have a safe New Year's eve and may the New Year bring you nest full of eggs.

Opa- if you hatch out some Wellsummers can I be put on the list for a few? I have a rooster that I thought was a barnvelder and no girls for him. I would like 5 or 6 so maybe he can have some women. And if anybody on this thread has any Barnvelders , I would like to find a rooster for my pullet and maybe a couple more pullets. Thanks.

Happy New Year!! I hope the new year brings good health and happiness to all of you. Please be safe. Don't drink and drive. We want to see you back here on the forum in one piece. And look forward to meeting all the newbies and seeing old friends at Chickenstock.
