Wow Opa, did not know that about the eggs... SO, if that is the case, why do my green eggs look blue on the inside? I actually got my too green eggs this morning while they were still hot. I caught them just as Aster got hers out and ran for the morning snack... If I can catch them tomorrow morning, I am going to see if I can wash the color off! LOL. Of course.. most factoids are false, even if repeated many many times... So says the book, "100 words everyone uses and misuses". Lol. BUT, I am gonna see.
Now, on the vein... My second green egg laying girl, her eggs are not looking so green now... Less green than Aster's... They are looking more bluish. Still green but more blue than olive like Asters... AND, I got all of these three girls, from the same lady... The girls are all black, and Aster is the only one of the group who is not the same size as her brood mate sisters... The two cochin bantam mutt girls that is. They, all three are the exact same color, same green sheen to the feathers. Aster is the only one that does not have feathered legs. The other 2 do. BUT one of them has muffs, and her sister doesn't... AND they all came from the same farm... SO, I think the idiot lady ( I say that cuz HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE COCHIN MUTTS) gave them away to me for free because she did not want that "crap" (which again makes her an idiot, chickens are not crap) in her flocks. She hatched them out of a bunch of eggs... SO, I wonder if she had known that I would get a pink, a green, and a blue-green laying trio, would she have still given them away? And if that dang hawk hadn't have gotten Scooter, do you think maybe she would have layed me a purple egg? Just saying... Cuz man, what luck have I to have a colorful basket my first time round? And why do some people do not beleive that chickens do not just lay white and brown eggs? Just some random ramblings... LOL.
AND, Why is it that I can sit in my yard, or stand in the garage, and be still and watch the chickens and still be confounded by their sheer genius? I mean really. How many chickens will run into a glass window over and over till they figure out that they can not go thru it, and then do it all over again the next day? AND THE WINDOW ISN"T EVEN CLEAR! Its muddy, spotted... Filthy really. Silly butt birds. I love my chickens. These girls are a complete joy. I hope I don't get attached to the meaties in the spring... I'd hate to have to pick 50 birds up every day and put them in the coop because they can't walk there themselfs. LOL.
My roosters tasted good BTW. SO, I don't think I will be that attached. LOL.
Sorry, long useless, kill time post.
