The last week of November I saw an animal in the back field that I questioned if it as a wolf or a coyote. I was a bit worried about shooting at it, and then it was gone. When I see pictures of the two I can tell the difference but not having seen a wolf in the flesh I wasn't sure. After talking to my brother who traps, I'm pretty certain it was a wolf, but I still wasn't sure. Today my neighbor shows us a picture of a wolf track that was taken a mile away and told us one of their calves was killed by a wolf. So.... as of Jan. 27 wolves are de-listed and I don't have to worry if I am shooting at a wolf or a coyote, if it's after my chickens it's fair game.

As a new years resolution, one of my girls decided to go BROODY! DARN YOU!

Before cleaning the nestboxes "Touch me, I dare you!"

Quite a bit of pecking later, I finished the cleaning and gave her back her wooden egg babies.

Has anyone warned you yet?-- the Michigan thread is super chatty, you probably should just quit your day job now to be able to keep up, but that's okay because the MI thread is way more entertaining than work. Still trying to figure out how to make it pay, unfortunately...

So it never fails, whenever we plan to clean coops, a storm kicks up! GRRRR

I hate putting it off but all this wind and now snow would cause more of a mess than if I just throw some straw over it.

Pigs are doing a little better getting along. I caught them cuddling together in the big coop

But pigs are pigs and I know it won't last long. They probably just hate all this wind and it's warmer to be in that coop.

Eggs are in lockdown tonight. I'm gonna do one more candling then leave them be. I'm hoping for at least one of the lemons ChickwannaB sent me!!

Well, I guess while I'm feeling decent I better go clean something.
