Chick mate! My son made me delete it!!! Did not want to be on our chicken website!! How embarrassing for a teen!

p.s. he has dark curly hair like my husband did and brown eyes! Hard to explain when our first child, my daughter has blue eyes and blonde hair like my side of the family. Awkward - but honestly only been married once and both kids were ours.........

Oh good, I thought you guys were keeping things from me. My two brothers and older sister and I all have dark hair and brown eyes. Little sis came along with blue eyes and blonde hair. Of course we always teased that she was adopted or her daddy was the milkman. Remember when we had milkmen? We all took after Mom's (no, not Mom2EmAll

) side of the family and little sis took after my Dad's side.

So I am thinking, "FIELD TRIP!!!" I want to go to the Rare Breeds Show at Garfield Farm, Sunday, May 20, 2012. 300 miles one way. It is only one day, 11 am to 4 pm and about a 5 1/2 hour drive (a long day for sure!) We would be talking leaving around 6 am and getting home around 10 pm. I can take 3 adults comfortably (I have a Mercury Mariner) plus a couple of cages, should we find any critters to bring home. If someone had a full size van, we could even reduce the gasoline expense even more and share turns driving time . If 6+ people went it would cost about $20 each for gas. I just thought I would throw it out there. I know I haven't met any of you yet, but 600 miles is a great way to get to know someone (and help pass the time)!! It doesn't have to be all adults either if any have children who would be interested. I am open. I am retired with time on my hands. As you have seen from previous posts, I am interested in raising Black Javas. Supposedly they will have some at the show. I was thinking if anyone else was interested in introducing new genes into their flock, that this might be a good idea. Aside from chickens there will be rare sheep, cattle, horses, goats, not to mention the farm itself. I think it is about $6 entry fee. I live in South Lyon, MI.

This could be a prelude to Chicken Fest!

Wow, that could be fun. Where exactly is it?

You should Photoshop the picture and put a blue dot over his face and then repost it, here and FB and everywhere else you can think of.

Ya know fuzzybutt, mr. Fluffers looks like a big clumsy oaf when he is walking. If you have a silkie, then you can compare. The feet are pretty much the same only BIG FAT TOES. Well Mr fluffers are. The spurs curl upward when the get big. My fluffy butt has a nice set of them, so he looks like he has 6! When I look at his prints in the snow, I see only the 4 toes touch the ground, the fifth doesn't. Same with Buffy when I would see her prints.

My how are shacking up in the garage. Guess they didn't want to brave the downfall we got today! Wow.

had 2 pins shear off on the snow blower. Carl discovered it while using it to blow all our drives and paths today. His snow blower got injured. Lol. Trash guys managed to drop something at the end of his drive, he hit it, broken blower. So, he used mine, found that only one blade set was turning. Easy fix thank goodness. Good thing I had one too or we'd probably still be shoveling out bill's drive.

I think the hen I got today may be a blue faverolle, I think I said that already. I was able to compare her to some blues I found online, and her color pattern matches. She is very friendly for a girl who was livestock, and there for never handled. Surprising. She ate corn from my hand. I think I am going to name her Fifi- short for Fiametta. I always wanted a dog named Fifi... A chicken will work. She is not laying yet.. So maybe, new freeloader? Or Freelo for short. Lol

Sounds good. How many are ya looking for?

well lets see...if I want to end up with a couple pullets, and knowing my luck 75% will be cockerels, and 10% wont hatch.. and 2% will meet some disastrous end like a raccoon or cat or power failure ....so, I think a half+ dozen should work. You can PM me how much- and if its possible to work it out so that I could get them with the silkie eggs...yay me!!! I just need this late winter to um, GO AWAY, and let me have Spring already...

Same thing here in my family. I have 5 sisters and 3 brothers, and my 3rd sister is the only one that has blond hair, while the rest of us kids have different shade of brown hair. My hair is the darkest brown, but when I was born I had brown hair, but it turned very blond for a few years starting when I was 1, then it back to brown again.

well it took me an hour to catch up on to days posts, then I went and played with the photos for a while, still don't know how I found some things or how to get back to them.
Nova your chicks are sweet!! let us know how your chick shoes work. hope it works!.....Like your set up Opa, will try to get some pics of my coop & run tomorrow. ...Raz you are plane crazy,(love it)

I had 5 brothers and 1 sister. some almost black hair some blond. All blue eyes. My sister married a guy with brown eyes all her kids have brown eyes, but grand children have both, so Grandma, did you DH's mom or dad have blue eyes? Brown is usually dominant
Did some one say it will be 40 Mon.? that will be great cause my hens do not like snow!! welcome to all the new comers!!! It has been an interesting week.
