That is a sale price here in the city.

Plus I have to drive 30 miles just to get to the TSC.

RIGHT!!! You should really pick up pine shavings and feed for me so I dont have to drive out. No sense in both of us making that same trip....

Yay Mom2, I am glad that you will get to be there.

Ferret, so sorry about your hen.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY ,me too!!!!

Good morning all. Cold here this morning and of course since it's nasty I've got to go haul firewood for Hope's stepfather.

M2EM, I'm glad that we will be seeing you again at Chickenstock. It sure has become a day to look forward to. It's enjoyable being able to meet with the friends from previous years and to be able to meet those who have join our merry band since last year.

YAYYYYYYYYY me too! I dont think I would survive not being there- you are all extended family, and my girls feel the same way. They told their Nonny that they COULDNT MISS Chickenstock, lol...
Sam you are like the ChickenStock Icon- I think we need to get you some chicken statue or something, this year. Maybe the Golden Egg award....

I only have 2 speeds, Nova. If you don't like this one, you'll really hate the other one.

When you take my coop design, don't forget the cable TV and stereo system. The hens love it.

RAZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I waited for you to show up all summer long to help me with my sludge pool....pond...and you never did. SO, if you build a coop for NovaAman before you fix my pond, there's gonna be a cat fight..lol.
You will be building yourself a dog house.

NovaAman and Ferret- I am so sorry for your hen losses. it sure stinks..and Nova, I hope you get a couple good prodigy from her.

I live in the doghouse (or is it a cathouse?). Every night I go to sleep with 2 dogs and 3 cats. It would be 3 dogs, but my old Samoyed can't jump up on the bed any longer.

Good evening

Thought I'd drop in and say hello. A very kind, fellow Michigander recommended this thread to me, so I thought I'd check it out.

Just started snowing again here. We haven't had much, an inch here or there. Nothing that has stuck around with the warm temps and rain that we've had lately.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your evening.

Hello. I have been on BYC for about a year now and just found out that this thread existed.

I am from South West Michigan near Kalamazoo. I just wanted to say hi and get to know some fellow Michigan people on this site.

I also heard something about a Chickenstock. What is it? And Where? I am kinda interested...

Thanks
Shaun

I am bummed. I went to take care of the duck coop, feed Aster and give her vitamins, and she was even worse. I had to take her out of the brooder box just to be able to get food to her head. Had to give her water to drink from a dropper and she still couldn't get it all. She did stop attacking me though. BUT while she was out of the broody box, she decided she wanted to try and walk, she couldn't she totally spazzed out, tipped over the waterer, crapped diareaha, was upside down with her feet in the air flapping all around. OMG, it was horrible. And then she started screaching. Since I just had another hen, Skeeter, go broody, I put Asters eggs under her and put Aster down. She may have been a mean little you know what, but she was still a good layer, and I have 2 of her egg being incubated by the broodies... I didn't make the decision lightly. I took into account that she was sitting on eggs, but how would she be able to take care of the babies when they hatched if she was still suffering wry neck? SO, I hope I did make the right decision... My neighbor even took a look at her, and he could not believe that her head was upside down. Said he had never seen such a thing. Well, now he has.

Enjoy EE heaven Aster.

So sorry.

We can tell ourselves that our animals are just that, and that we need to except the fact that they do die, however, it's still sad when we lose them. Sorry for everyones losses.

Oh Nova. Sorry for your loss. Let's hope for one of her eggs to hatch.

In the mail today, I received the TSC "Dollar Days" flyer. They have pine shavings priced 2 for $9 and Dumor Layer 16% at $14 for a 50 pound bag.

RaZ-I have to agree with Nova. It's a sale, but kind of a whoop-ti-doo one. My tsc is just a couple miles down the road from me and I was in there tonight and saw the ad signs. I was buying hog feed so it didn't help me, but I was like 'oh look. ok whatever. at least it'll be a bit cheaper for a bit.' Then as I was walking toward the front I saw heat lamps/bulbs on the dollar days sale as well for brooder boxes. All this talk about incubating and broodies is starting to give me chickitus. In fact, me and DH were talking about that very subject at lunch. Hmmm.....

Tee.... This weekend I get to candle again.... Two different nests. That's 11 eggs.... 5 of which I know are growing at this point. So, when Leila hatches hers, the ones I just got will be 4 weeks, then depending on how many of the 6 that Aster was sitting on, but that Skeeter is on now, those are 2.5 weeks out.... Less actually.... Well then they will be 12-5 wk olds, 5-1 wk olds, and 6(Fingers crossed) newbies.... I am going to go broke on medicated chick feed! And now only 4 hens a layin!

I sure hope Fiametta lays soon... Her comb is turning red... She has not ventured outside yet, but she has access to it.
