Good Morning Everyone,

Went out to feed and water the girls this morning around 8:30. After coming out of the coop I looked up and saw THE BIGGEST HAWK I've ever seen flying directly above the coop. No real danger to the girls, with this cold weather and snow they have been staying in the coop and enclosed run. As big as the hawk was I'm not so sure he wasn't more interested in making this fat guy a meal, not my girls.

Mom2- That is a really cute chick. I really like NN's anyway, but that little one is kind of a hot mess and I LIKE IT.

Avalon, if I had room... I had egg bound hen once... When she finally laid, she pooped out 2 eggs! Wish you would have had such luck!
chickmate... In 1.5 weeks.... I can't hardly wait!
OH! And you would not believe how fast these little guys are changing! Ok, most of you would, but I didn't know! There was one nearly white chick, this morning, inoticed his head has turned a dirty yellow! Omg. So cute.
Well off to feed the broodies. Thanks for the info on The egg situation. Oh I miss the 8 eggs a day... With losing 2 hens, and 2 going broody... 4 eggs now on a good day! Lol. Hurry up Fiametta!

yes, that is my 2nd eggbound ever. I am still traumatized from the whole finger in the chickenbutt thing. yuck. I am still getting 1dz plus of eggs a day, sometimes 2dz. I swear, the more hens I sell the more eggs I am getting. Stop by if you want a dozen. Got 12 or so right now lol

Gosh, it's cold outside!! But... No wind!!!!! What a relief!
Mom, that chick is so ugly it's adorable! Poor baby. I'm sure she'll grow up to be beautiful. Remember the tale of the ugly duckling!
Yeah, I'm glad there's snow on the ground. Have a reason to keep them in the run. Have to make sure the hawks are gone for good.

So do chickens get sad and lonely?
I know they are flock animals and need company but my BLA Gravy seems to be "off" since we lost Nugget. The big girls tend to ignore her and she doesn't seem bold enough to join in with them like Nugget did.

Should I look for another bantam companion for her?

From my experience eggs that have been frozeb and then hatched will result in chicks { ? } that look like T- (rex).

ES. I've never even tried to hatch eggs.
