M.sue - That's just RaZ getting in touch with his feminine side AND it does have to do with his degree in biology! I'm sure he knows that on a forum with 75% women, he's not going to make us all happy and I'll just bet he really doesn't give a chickens butt if we like his avatar or not!

LOL......I just had to RAZZZZ him!! It did take me by suprise when scrolling. I thought oh, who's the new gal!!

directions for developing a lavender bird. Apparently it takes 5+ generations if you start from scratch.
I think i get it, but is that 5 generations to get an ALL Lav bird? I only want lav markings. Not fussy on how they look. I like the blue but don't want the hassle of all the black and whites.

Hi! you're by me. I'm in Coopersville. Do you live IN conclin? My friend has a neighbor with chickens. She would be the one scared of them. Swears they pick at her toes.

We got through the impacted crop issue but she had sour crop ontop of that.
diced garlic workes wonders on that if you can get her to eat it. Cooked yolk would be awsome too. Anything grain based has the potential to keep souring; i tried the vinegar in the water trick and it didn't work for me. Just yogurt and garlic. I've heard buttermilk stays in them better than yogurt too? haven't tried it yet.

2. Have you used Poultry Protector spay? Is is ok to use around eggs? Did it work?
I used it and i thought it was junk. Surprising, since i like the rest of their products so much. I used most of the bottle covering only ONE bird and although it killed a few lice i swear the rest stood up and laughed at me! It's what finally drove me to buying the liquid pyrmethrin 10%.Within 3 days all the lice were GONE. I tried DE and dusting with permethrin dust, but this is the one that worked in the end for me. I battled the little suckers for an entire winter and a good part of the summer before this. I think there's a 2 week withdrawal after each dose and you have to repeat in 10 days, (I ended up waiting a month all together) but it was worth it and i have not seen them since. Only critter you can't use it on is cats.buying a big bag of DE would be better if you're needing something for a preventative.

Sigh. I'm still working on integrating the new roo. If he hadn't been on death row.... My roo is not hateful, but he is scared of having any boys around on account of that mean roo we had to put down. I think it's too soon for him to get over it. poor new guy won't even fight, so he got a comb bite today. you'd have thought it was much worse looking at all the blood! Even though he lost (is not fighting losing in the bird world?) he seemed much spunkier and was finally calling the girls and acting roosterly. If it wasn't so potentially dangerous, it would be funny watching the worlds wussiest roosters try to figure out who is the boss.
Does anyone know of lavender birds for sale in my area? I can't drive far, so it either has to be close or i have to order them.

But perhaps, you'll be amused with the new avatar.
