Pretty cool when folks from all over are dropping in to say hi!
You are welcome to drop in any time and see what us crazy Michiganders are doing.
Errrrrmmmm... I guess I had better 'fess up right now about what Chicken Rustler means about a "return invasion"... See, I got curious about the Washington thread. Our beloved MI thread is, of course, the number two most active state thread. Turns out the Washington state people are number one. And it's not even close. They have over twice the number of posts that we do. (And in case you're wondering, a smaller state population than Michigan). Not that I was feeling competitive at all. (Why is there not a smilie that indicates I am
not being sarcastic here, since I know that you're thinking I am??? Not sarcastic. Not competive. Just interested). So in the last few days, when I run out of new pages to read in the MI thread (and my ability to do
that tells you a lot about my ambition and productivity, eh??), I have been reading the WA thread. They just had some tremendously bad weather/snow there so lots of posts about dealing with that, power losses, etc. One poster had a lot of eggs incubating, set them in front of her wood stove and hand turned the eggs every hour, actually saved part of the hatch, had several eggs hatch in her pockets. Amazing story. And as you will not be surprised to learn, like the MI peeps, the Washiingtonians are a true family. With all the power outages, they made a concerted effort to reach every regular poster to see how everyone was doing and offer assistance. The above-quoted Chicken Rustler, or CR as they call him, was a big part of the outreach effort. My other reason for checking out the WA thread is that I was born and raised there. Came out to MI to go to college. But still have friends and family in WA. (Reading the WA posts, made me wonder if "wordiness" is a state characteristic.... hmmmm). Anyway, there I am for a few days in a row, trying to keep up with the WA posts when I'm out of MI pages. And then CR posts this:
Isn't is amazing how many lurkers we have from "other states" But they never drop in to say Hi are we really that scarry? really we don't bite.
So of course I felt outed, I mean
invited to introduce myself, and I did. (I didn't promise that all the MI people don't bite, but I did say we were super sorry almost immediately after). So yeah, nice bunch of folks. The really nice and sweet thing is they had no idea they were the CHAMPEEN of the state threads, or at least CR didn't know. I told him where to check on the state thread listings for the number of posts in each. He was amazed. I am absolutely first and foremost a MI thread person. But it's nice to travel occasionally to see distant relatives too.
