Hello Everyone,

I got behind again in reading posts, except this time all I could do to catch up was skim the thirty some pages and take notes. So now I will do one of my summary posts. As before I hope I don't miss anybody, but if so I'm sorry in advance.

A big thank you to everyone who has been trying to help me see the coops section. I am going to get in touch with a friend who is an IT junky and see if we can make it all work.

OPA- Tell Hope that quilt is a work of art! I have a great aunt that has made some quilts for my family and I and they are treasured memories for us.

MOM2/YORKCHICK- Those goosers are so cute, and talkative little critters. Mom2 did a great job raising them and Yorkchick is doing a great job as their adoptive mom.

A big Michigan Thread WELCOME goes out to Leslie, Kevin, Bullof7Battles and bcavanau. This is a great thread with many wonderful people to help you out with anything you need.

A big interstate welcome to un-named (WI) and ChickenRustler(WA), glad you came by to see us and please don't be strangers.

YORKCHICK (again) Thank you so much for the kind words about Mrs. FA's blog. When I read your post to her I think she almost started crying she was so happy that someone liked it.

Since Yorkchick brought it up, I will throw it out there again for any new members. My wife writes a blog that chronicles our crazy life. Not only does it follow our lives, but it is rich with sarcasm, craft projects, and food stuff. I would invite you to stop in and take a look. The address is Thealbrightacres.blogspot.com

I hope you all have a great day and are able to enjoy this mild winter weather.

OPA- I knew I was going to forget something. Happy Belated Birthday, I hope you were able to spend it doing something you enjoy.

Good Luck in Vegas. I LOVE that place. They have such good shows and stuff. Just got done telling my sister a little while back we need to go again for a few days.
I hate Vegas.
Las Vegas cost me a new car, a nice house, and most of my IRA.
That's right, folks, I got married in Vegas.

You are welcome to drop in any time and see what us crazy Michiganders are doing.
Errrrrmmmm... I guess I had better 'fess up right now about what Chicken Rustler means about a "return invasion"... See, I got curious about the Washington thread. Our beloved MI thread is, of course, the number two most active state thread. Turns out the Washington state people are number one. And it's not even close. They have over twice the number of posts that we do. (And in case you're wondering, a smaller state population than Michigan). Not that I was feeling competitive at all. (Why is there not a smilie that indicates I am not being sarcastic here, since I know that you're thinking I am??? Not sarcastic. Not competive. Just interested). So in the last few days, when I run out of new pages to read in the MI thread (and my ability to do that tells you a lot about my ambition and productivity, eh??), I have been reading the WA thread. They just had some tremendously bad weather/snow there so lots of posts about dealing with that, power losses, etc. One poster had a lot of eggs incubating, set them in front of her wood stove and hand turned the eggs every hour, actually saved part of the hatch, had several eggs hatch in her pockets. Amazing story. And as you will not be surprised to learn, like the MI peeps, the Washiingtonians are a true family. With all the power outages, they made a concerted effort to reach every regular poster to see how everyone was doing and offer assistance. The above-quoted Chicken Rustler, or CR as they call him, was a big part of the outreach effort. My other reason for checking out the WA thread is that I was born and raised there. Came out to MI to go to college. But still have friends and family in WA. (Reading the WA posts, made me wonder if "wordiness" is a state characteristic.... hmmmm). Anyway, there I am for a few days in a row, trying to keep up with the WA posts when I'm out of MI pages. And then CR posts this:
Isn't is amazing how many lurkers we have from "other states" But they never drop in to say Hi are we really that scarry? really we don't bite.
So of course I felt outed, I mean invited to introduce myself, and I did. (I didn't promise that all the MI people don't bite, but I did say we were super sorry almost immediately after). So yeah, nice bunch of folks. The really nice and sweet thing is they had no idea they were the CHAMPEEN of the state threads, or at least CR didn't know. I told him where to check on the state thread listings for the number of posts in each. He was amazed. I am absolutely first and foremost a MI thread person. But it's nice to travel occasionally to see distant relatives too.

Yorkchick.....I think that's absolutely fine, after all it is your home/birth State! Having others stop in is great and having friends in different places is also great....beneficial too! Nothing wrong with the fact that they are the leading thread, apparently they have people who either are a lot more chatty than us (don't know how that could be) or more retired, work @ home folks. Either way I think it's cool that they were so welcoming to you as we are always pleased to see new members. Their thread sounds a lot like ours. Chicken Rangler & Friends are always welcome....I think the more the merrier, the more the greater info and learning experience!!

P.S. How in Gods name did you have the time to read 2 busy, busy threads? I can barely keep up with ours, but I also work part time.

P.S.S. Welcome Back Chicken Wrangler...correction: Chicken Rustler!! I need to read slower!!

Just started snowing here. The chooks are out free ranging but I keep running to the window because I saw a redtailed hawk flying over the woods screeching. They have plenty of places to hide and they are staying pretty close to the deck which they can dive under if they need to. Mama and babies doing great but she keeps scratching straw and pine shavings into the waterer and food dish, so I need to rearrange their quarters again. I've been sick since last weekend, headache, sore throat, coughing, sneezing, congested, just feeling yucky. I cancelled out of two meetings this week so far, but have one tonight that I really don't want to miss, so I hope the other people don't mind if I sit in the corner with a cloth over my mouth. Not cool, I know, but can't miss this one.
