Oiy, these goofy chickens.

Went out to see of there were any afternoon eggs (nope) but I see that Gravy is not in the garage coop.
Grab a torch and go out to check the tent coop. Sure enough, she is sitting up on a wagon.
Pick her up and take her back inside the garage and put her to bed.

She is usually the first to go in for the night. I wonder why she was still outside.

I think I better get her those peeps for companionship.

Not working here, as you can see. Just can't find a pt job near me that will at least pay for the gas to get there... Buuut my girl got a nice coat from me. Took the last 3 days, but she's my favorite and so i spoil...

It is wine colored pleather with stormy blue stitching, and peach lace with peach ribbon snap-on straps. And you can't see it but there is brown "fur" lining it! Sounds like a bit much but all scrap material and it looked super sharp when it was done. I even formed it to curve instead of lying flat so it would not be too stiff for her.

fuzzybutt - Love the apron! I have a little marans hen who needs a coat with fur in it!

Start volunteering with a group that interests you. I became a Master Gardener and do stuff with them. I also became a docent at Matthaei Botanical Gardens so that should look good on a resume. Find something you enjoy.

This should be my last semester provided I can get through the BS of administrative exit audit.
Then my title will revert to "unemployed" instead of "student".

RaZ - I had to Goodle 'docent' to see what you do, then I went to Matthaei Botanical Gardens and took a virtual tour. Beautiful! Never been there but it looks like a wonderful weekend day trip. As Master Gardener do you actually care for the plants on diplay?

Just out of curiosity, does anybody in or around Grand Rapids have any fertile eggs? If so what kinds. I've got 1 maybe 2 BO's that have gone broody, I thought maybe since my last broody hatch was unintentional, I might actually try for real this time.

Babigyrl- Do you still have the Marans guy, I think it's Jerry's number?

I take groups of kids on tours of the grounds and teach them according to their grade level and what the teacher's curriculum is. Usually I do the outdoor trails but sometimes I do the conservatory as well.

I'm also on the burn crew, so I get to set fire to the prairies from time to time. Oddly enough, I don't do any gardening activities there.

I have Delawares and then I have Black Austrolorps but there are a couple of Jersey Giants in with the BA's so they may be a mix.

I definitely need coffee this morning to settle me down. I just invested several minutes into composing a well thought out reply to the previous posts only to have it sail off into cyber space just prior to hitting submit. I had found a spelling error that I wanted to correct when shazam its gone. Perhaps returning to bed would make more sense than trying to retrieve the thoughts I had worked so hard to compile.

Donchaa just HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS. aND IT IS MOSTLY when the lost post was [in your own min d.] especially good.

Frenchie is doing good. He was fine this morning and had no obvious wounds so I took him out to be with the other bantams.
Unfortunately, that's when I found out he wasn't the one that suffered the worst from the attack. Last night I saw all of them from front only and they all looked fine and my immediate concern was the missing Frenchie and all the feathers. Had I looked more carefully, I would have realized there were more feathers scattered about.
Two more of my roos were attacked as well. I noticed right away that Mr Peanut, my sebright, had lost almost all his tail feathers. He has a couple left on his tail and that's it. He has no wounds, though. It was Girly, my sebright mix, that had a wound. He was missing some tail feathers, too, and had a nickel size wound on his backside where his tail begins. I took him inside and cleaned him up and treated his wound. I kept an eye on him all day and he is acting/eating normally. His wound looked better tonight so I think he'll be okay once it heals up. As for the rest of the bantams, I inspected them and they do not appear to have had any feather loss or wounds.
