Glad to see you back Opa, funny story.

Bought my flock some meal worms last night! They've never had them before so this should be A REAL TREAT to them.

I got 7/10 eggs yesterday. The running number has been 6 for past few weeks. Spring is around the corner and I'm already liking the longer day light.

Good morning all, the full moon was a real sight to see this morning above the western horizon. Looks like it will be sunny today, I may have to find my sunglasses - it has been a while since they were needed.

Farmboy, Olive's advice is excellent. Dairy cows make great mothers as they provide lots of milk, probably enough for you to feed a calf and for your personal use, sparing you the expense of milk replacer. Breed to a nice beef bull like an Angus and you will get good beefy calves. I was at a dairy farm once that was milking a heifer that looked exactly like a hereford. When I asked the farmer about it, he told me he breeds all his smaller holstein heifers to a beef bull, as the calves are smaller and easier to deliver. This heifer was out of such a cow, and was a part of the milking herd - sure looked funny in the middle of all those black and whites.

Morning! Today looks to be a wonderfully sunny day! Supposed to be in the low 40s here today. Yes! I will not freeze my tuckus off in the jeep while delivering today.

I have set Veena free. She has an empty crop, she's not puffy... If towers still going to be freezer like, she'd still be stuck in the carrier. I m putting up the corn treat so none of them will be getting that. Just their crumbles and buttermilk. She sure liked the buttermilk and egg yolk.

Well anyway. Have a great day. Hope everywhere is going to be as nice as here.

Well, you're not going to eat your heifer. You can breed any dairy heifer to a beef bull and you have dual purpose offspring for eating. You can feed excess milk to your birds, pigs, dogs, cats, make cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, yogurt, freeze for when you dry the cow off... just something to consider. With such a tight driving restriction it may end up being your only choice.

We do want the milk, and I plan to give the excess to all of my birds and pigs. My new sister-in-law's grandpa owns a small beef farm just two miles from our place, and we can use the bull there to breed the cow. The bull is Limousin. Thanks for the advice!

Part of story funny, last part not if one has experienced the stench.

I found Word perfect came on my Dell, Had not looked at it in 3+ years. Yesterday I did. Wow, lots of stuff one might do with that software. May be I'll try, If I can tear myself away from BYC enough.

I received help and advice from several kind and helpful folks on BYC Michigan, thank you all.

Anyone that thought I was yelling at them through the use of ALL CAPS, no such thing intended. Ignorance resulting from inexperience is my reason. NO excuse I know, ( Hay hey, this is not the law. Regardless, I am sorry. I really do not want to offend any of you.


Please feel free to add to my education. I really do want help, and I recognize the need for it.

I LIKE USING CAPS AT TIMES....IT'S MUCH EASIER ON TIRED EYES!!! The more you use the computer the easier it becomes.....I've done it for years, I'm no pro and I'm always learning something new........ often just stumbling upon it!!

Good morning all, the full moon was a real sight to see this morning above the western horizon.

That full moon was really a sight to see last night, too. The glow it cast on everything was so neat and different. I went to pick my kids up from church and looked in the rear view mirror and the way it was casting down looked so mysteriously eerie on our tree lined road. I thought it was beautiful and would've loved to get a picture, but my camera doesn't take good night shots.

Good morning all. It is sun shiny and nice out today.

Getting a bit of a late start, but now I'm ready to go out and enjoy it.
First, I have to get my cat off my lap. She decided to jump up here and is making me such a nice kitty sweater for today. I'd say a good brushing is in order for her.
