b737! Glad u found us.

Bianca, what a fabulous pic!!

It looks like I've been stood up for tonight. I showered and shaved for nothing.

Now you guys are stuck with me.

Farmerboy - if your flock has MG again, and I hope they do not, then perhaps the wild birds in your area are carrying it or it is still in the environment around your farm. My vet warned me to wait through the Winter before bringing any new chickens onto our property. He felt the freezing and the passing of time was important in killing the bacteria we had (E.Coli) and the virus that may have started the problem. This Winter was so puny that I am not confident any bacteria was killed in my back yard. Also - sand can be eaten by chickens and they can get a digestive tract impaction. I was told by our vet that pine shavings is the best bedding and with proper ventilation and cleaning to prevent ammonia build up, it should be just fine.
You may be right about wild birds or the environment. I had waited until we had a very hard freeze before letting the poultry free-range, plus waited for 3 months before free-ranging. There is no way that the wild birds can get in my coop, but I have had rats getting into the feed. I had caught a few, and our puppy had killed one. Maybe it was the rats. I will know for sure if I have the disease sometime next week.

Bianca, that is a very neat picture!!! Chicken grandma- Maybe I can come over and help ya find wherever the humming is coming from. As you know that I am deaf, and can hear with cochlear implants, and I discovered last year while working on the electric fence for the horse, that if I have my hearing device on a certain setting, I hear nothing else, but the electric ticking of the fence. My normal hearing siblings cannot hear what I can hear!! :woot Finally another advantage over my normal hearing siblings, besides turning off the devices, so I can't hear the annoying sounds. :p I have tried it on electric cords, and can hear it humming, among countless electrical devices. :D I also use the certain setting for when I am using the phone, for its hard enough to talk to people on the phone with the background noises. Gotta love technologies that help handicap people live as much of a normal life as normal people. :)

Bianca- that is a neat pic. We live near a small lake and see them from time to time, but I would never be able to take such a nice photo like that.

b737- hello. I have quite a few of the types of chickens you want. My ee girl is a sweet little thing that lays green eggs. My leghorns lay well, but have a tendency to be a bit kooky. I love my barred rocks. I also have RIR, New Hampshire, BSL, SLW, Buff Orps, and a few bantams. I was going for a variety and love the differences in each.

sillychicken- impressive job on the wall.

Rbahmer- congrats on the new babies

Hillbilly Hen- I've never had a hot toddy, but it sounds yummy and since I'm under the weather yet, it would be good for me, right?

Raz- that cartoon was a good one!

Ok, perhaps I'm mistaken, but no new chick pics today? Are the enablers giving up? LOL
