They are black ones and just beautiful. I got a few other bantams also that I have no idea what they are. I think a couple are silver sebrights and golden sebrights. Not sure though. Good luck on your TSC's up there. Hope they have them for you.

I would get at least 4-6 d'uccles My d'uccle was compatible with our silkie mix but the seabrights are a VERY HIGH ENERGY bird and the d'uccle are a VERY QUIET DOCILE chicken. Almost total opposites and we had to separate ours.

The d'uccles are the sweetest breed I have ever had. However they also are the most vulnerable to predators because of their feathered feet (can't run) and feathered faces ( can't see ).
They also are SO DOCILE that they will be at the very bottom of the pecking order and may need to be kept separately.

They are my favorite breed and I would never get just one, I would get 6 of them so that they have plenty of friends with the same personalities.

The chicken in the avatar photo of mine to the left is Bobbi, my mille fleur d'uccle. She was 1.5 pounds at her largest. She laid almost every day from 6 months - 2.5 years. I did have to give her supplemental heat and extra predator protection and we had to keep her separate from the seabrights as they beat her up - everyone beat her up.
I have only one Porcelain d'Uccle hen in with my Silver Sebrights and they don't pick on her. She is the boss in that pen and picks on them LOL.

Bobbi at about 6 months old. I have found several cases where the d'uccles were being picked on and had to be separated but I am very glad RBahmer that your girl can hold her own!

Fuzzy - I just bought some of those today at TSC. I also got a couple of silkie chicks, and 8 Jersey Giants.

Did TSC have a minimum number of chicks to buy? Last year they did and that's why In came home with 6 instead of the 3 I wanted. Of course that was at the new store in New Hudson and it was close to Easter.

I asked Wynette to hatch a couple of JG pullets for me in time for ChickenStock so I'll wait until then. Can't do straight run.
I do have to run to TSC for dog and cat food and pasture mix. If they have any BSL's I might be tempted. Mine are great layers.

Your Sebrights should have met my hen then LOL. She is VERY docile to people and loves to be held by she holds her own to the Sebrights. They have been together all winter.

Thanks Rbahmer. I hope our TSC's get them, too.

I have to agree with chicken grandma, though. My girl d'uccle was really quiet and was at the bottom of the pecking order, too. And Frenchie was low man on the roo totem pole. He didn't even start to crow until 9 months old.

They have a minimum of 6. Our TSC in Albion had Isa Browns, Jersey Giants, Black Sex Links, and Cornish plus ducks and the bantams.
