On my way to Michigan State to meet up with Snowflake and Farmerboy and QUIZ those VETS!
Wish we had some of you with us - especially some of you gifted in research and health (you know who you are!)
We will do our best to get info, maybe even some that we can photo copy and bring to Chickenstock as hand outs.

We were vegan up until our chickens started laying, I still have trouble sometimes eating the eggs.

That means you don't drink milk, either? Just curious. I got mine for the eggs. I like to not eat meat if i can help it, but DH is a hunter and loves it, so when he's away i survive on eggs for protein. Shhh!

random thought: what if you put it on a raft? You would have to row out, but it would be kinda neat?

Mom, Nooooooo! I am having a hard time keeping on track! Been looking at lavendars.... i love the little fuzzy babies.... so hard to resist the peeping...... and the little eyes that say "love me, love me!".

So sorry! I was gonna go with you, but i thought you were talking about next week, so i didn't arrange with you yet :( Should've read the link. :(

I have a book somewhere around here that lists medicinal properties of plants and whatnot. I'll have to look for it. I bought it when I heard that an enzyme in barley helps reduce the occurrence of string algae in ponds.

I use fermented barley extract to cure my hypochondria.

I have that book also, mine calls for extra hop-anoids.

We're over-run with deer over here! I'll try and scare a few towards Newago, lol!
Oh, would you please? It has been a long time since we had venison.

Mom2- I have to agree with Olive. I had my surgery 3 days before DH's birthday. He was more concerned about me than about the missed birthday. I would think the sooner you get it done the better it will be for you. If this is something you were told would need to be done, don't wait. You don't want to have it come down to an emergency surgery.

I just want to note that I'm not trying to scare anyone with my experience, but I think it would be re-miss of anyone to not let someone know that there is more than one way it could go. I do think, however, that mine was more of an exception than the rule and most of these surgeries are pretty standard and easily recovered from.

My FIL almost died 2 years ago because they could not fit him in on the surgery schedule till the following week. Three days before his surgery was scheduled, his burst and he had emergency surgery and ended up being on a respirator for several days. He was very sick.

Any suggestions of how old the ducklings need to be before they can go for a swim in the bathtub?
When we had ducks we were told to wait 6 weeks but in the wild the moms don't wait that long.

Ugh, I have a sinus infection. *hate* It had better be gone before the nicer weather moves in, I have things I want to do in the sunshine!

I hope you feel better soon.

You do have to be careful with herbs when you have an auto-immune problem

Agreed! I have myasthenia gravis and cannot take anything with magnesium. Do you know how many things have magnesium in it?? There are also lots of other meds that I am not allowed to take because it will make the symtoms worse.

Walmart sells milk thistle capsules, and possibly a few of the other ones. I know about the MT as I bought some to try to help my first dog who had liver cancer. Didn't know it was to help gall stones. For the coffee, is it what's in the coffee itself? Or is it the caffeine? My older sister has gall bladder problems but never mentioned stones, I'll have to ask.

its something about the coffee itself. I read it, but didn't take notes on it, other than coffee can contribute to gall bladder contractions. So, I will have my coffee, but I won't drink more than a cup or 2 a day.
