A lamb will fit in your front seat or rear seat Jaime LOL. Better keep your eye on me.

I was just thinking that.....My GF put a calf in the front of his pick up one time and drove home from the auction he got it at. What hoot when he pulled in the yard honking his horn for us to come running out to see!

Aww, RaZ, what a pretty flower. I haven't seen any of mine come up yet. And those uggos are really pretty now. Ugly chickens turned into beautiful chickens!
Olive, did that chicken ever come down?? Can't believe it got so high!

Actually, I suspect the hatchery labeled things fine it's the TSC workers who are clueless.
I pretty much agree. Last year, I was sold some chicks that were NOT what the sign said they were. This year at the same store, the workers were better informed and when asked a specific question, the worker went and got the experienced manager. I ended up with all pullets, even the Wyandottes that I got from the straight-run bin.

I do qualify the above statement, as I am not 100% certain about 1 of the SLW. I think there is a slight chance that 1 is a cockerel based on the belly rub theory of sexing chicks.

M2M, yes, she started laying shell-less eggs, then she started laying shelled eggs again. Yes, she has access to oyster shell, and I throw the egg shells out the door to where they are when ever we have eggs for breakfast. The other day, I took Skatters egg and smashed it and fed it to her just like that. She ate the whole thing the little pig. LOL. Shes been messed up ever since she got ill and had the impacted crop. I hope this is just another hiccup. I even when and looked at the poop chart just to be sure... there is nothing like it on there.

So with this awesome, warm weather has anyone's property turned into a mushy, mucky, icky, muddy swamp? I can't wait for the ground to dry up, since I dislike squishing across the yard! Not all the snow and ice has melted here, either, there are patches of mud and grass, and patches of snow. For now, I prefer to walk on the snowy bits, so I don't squelch into the mud.
Normally, at this time of year, I have a mud pit in the back yard. Between almost no snow and high winds, my backyard is more dry than swamp. Other than the shady side of the garage, I have no squishy areas.

I have several plants that are coming up just as green as can be. And as I raked up the runs, the worms were right at the surface. It might be fairly damp underneath but I didn't dig down to check.

On another note, my pond is loaded with string algae but I also found several caddis fly larvae which is a good sign for water quality. I hope my salamander eggs survived the winter and hatch out.

I've got lots of snow and ice still and mud. Sort of a triple threat. And with the rain tomorrow things could get pretty interesting. Good thing the house is mostly on a hill and not below one. This year there isn't a ton of snow in the driveway to flood the garage, I remember digging trenches away from it one spring to try to drain the water away after the garage flooded.

Speaking of flooding, my neighbors across the street and then Carl got letters from their mortgage companies informing them that their homes were now considered as flood plains, and they need to have flood insurance. I have not gotten a letter, and I called my land contract guy and asked if they've gotten anything. Heres the effed up part. They both have to pay $500 for a surveyor to come out, do his thing, so that they will know how much insurance they need. And who's behind it? FEMA. Who has to do the surveying? FEMA. Oh yeah.. more gov't BS... The guy I got the house from built it. He said that in the 30 yrs that he lived in the house, he had never had a flood. Carl has lived in his house for 20, and says the same thing. But, because we have a stream across the street that gets overflow... I just hope it takes a while to get my letter. LOL. Some of the flood insurance can ad an additional 900 a year! WHAT?! Yup.

Nova - It's say give more tums. When my one girl layed the folded egg shell the white came out of her first. Kinda gross, but I also couldn't feel and egg because it was folded up so small.

Yup, big old mud bog. The chickens get around ok but even the dog sinks in.

Welcome to the three new folks, who I can't remember names.

And I think there were three.

To tired to type write or think right, yah that's wrong! Nite

We are gratefully un-muddy here. Usually our driveway is terrible, but not this time. We do get a pond every spring in our low lying area that is pretty good sized right now and the private drive on our west is such a mud bog they are parking near the road and walking to their house.

Hello to all the new people. You'll like it here.

Spent the day cleaning and taking care of the rooster pens. Everything is all clean for the moment. Plan to tackle the coop in a few days. With all the talk about mites, I've been checking my chickens at random and so far I don't see anything to worry me, but DH is in super high gear for the coop cleaning and dusting.
