Well I am not getting much done today... Freaking rain.

Hang in there Nova. Supposed to be wonderful weather later in the week. I am out of town today, so I could say the same thing...not getting much done either...freaking job! (I am looking at hatchery catalogs though!)

Same here.....nothing getting done. What a let down from yesterday......Mother Nature bring it back!!

I would take a bantie off someones hands @ chickenstock ONLY if I can get away without not getting one from TSC this weekend. I can't have any more Roos and I am leery because usually all the banties are in a straight run. I was lucky last year and ended up with one of each which is what we wanted. So we will see what happens in the following week.

Do you guys bring extras to Chicken Stock or just what people place an order for?

SillyChicken.....I really like your nesting box with the circle entrance....looks cool!

teeville5 I realized the person yelling for me was Neil! His crowing sounded like he was yelling mother in my just woken up stupor.

Cute! But it sounds like you just got the best alarm clock ever,,,,,,,,,Don't know if that's the BEST way to be woken, but it sure would be efficient.

yorkchick we haven't been able to sell the house we moved from yet

What if you rented it out? Or made it a "land contract"? You would be astounded to see how high rent is these days. Trust me, i rent, and it would be cheaper to buy if we only had credit....My sis is doing a land contract with a "balloon payment" and i don't fully understand it but the gist is that they make payments towards the house for a year at least, then at a set time they are supposed to get a loan for the rest. Supposedly the year of payments is to build your credit. Not a quick sale, but might give you a little income to make your current payments? And you'd be more likely to get the full asking price.

I am confused. What do uggos and dinosaur chickens have to do with roo magnets? Are all M2M's dinosaurs roos?

Or do all her roos become dinosaur chickens because she wears magnets?

And two, M2M raises "dinosaur" chickens. And except for the Uggos I got from her, she is a roo magnet.

They may be transferring a few people to other locations but doesn't look good. So DH has resumes out all over, we'd like not to move, not least because we haven't been able to sell the house we moved from yet so we are already making two mortgage payments. This week they told him he'd be laid off in three weeks.

Sorry to hear about your husbands job. I understand what not being able to sell the house you moved from is like too. We moved from Georgia a year ago, and we are still making payments on our house in GA. The home has been on the market for a year and we haven't even gotten a single low-ball offer yet. We have been trying to rent it since October...no luck w/ that yet either. Had somebody come by this morning and they seemed interested, but we will see how it goes. Hang in there. Still hoping to make it out your way for a visit later this week or next if that is still OK.

I Am happy for the rain, cause i was gently poking around in the dirt of my flowerbed, and i saw that the ladyslippers and the bleeding hearts are getting ready to start peeking out a little! Grow, grow, grow!

As soon as the slippers are out enough to start ID'ing, i have to do a walkabout to my friend's property down the road. They were forced to make a new drive, and the thing ended up going over a whole bed of them, i think. It's not being used extensively yet, so there is a chance of saving them yet... Are pink slippers natives, or just the yellows? From what i remember there was at least 20 of them. Also, oddly enough, my celery survived the winter, and my snapdragons, though i did cover them with an opaque tarp the last couple months.

At least it isn't snowing! And it looks like Wednesday should be as nice as Sunday, if they don't keep dropping the temperature forecast. They seem to have lowered every day for the next 10 days about 2-3 degrees since I checked yesterday!

And speaking of Chickenstock. I'm starting to feel the odd gal out if I don't bring something to trade/sell. Would anyone be interested in mutt guinea eggs? My crew is a mixed flock of 1 white, 1 purple, 2 lavender and 1 pied. Generally I get dozens and dozens of eggs that I don't need. I'm going to incubate a few this year as they are getting older and I want to keep my little flock going, but we ain't talking show birds here.

And I have decided not to go to TSC this week as a special trip to get pullets. I will wait till my "normal" monthly trip to Alpena closer to April. Gas is $3.99 here and it's a 70+ mile round trip. New seed starting flats will have to wait till then, too.

It'd be nice if you can save them but they are nigh to impossible to transplant. I'm pretty sure the pink must be native, too as they grow in the woods here and I don't think anyone would have thought to plant any on purpose in a swamp.
