Olive..
I know absolutely NOTHING about Cornish Crosses..
I just asked them to give me the bigger Isa pullets out of the bin. Didnt look in the box til I unloaded them at home.

If it is not an ISA.that would mean Tractor Supply made a mistake...................

Anyhow, it weighs a ton. if I pick either one of the two up, they feel like river rocks. The others weigh nothing.

Well, I've raised a couple ;) and I'm fairly certain you have a CX there. The legs, the body position, the heft... on the bright side, by the beginning of May you'll have dinner. LOL!

Well, I think it is disturbing...
Most of the banties are roos..now these two.

One of these sits around alot, the other tries to blend in with the others. It runs, tries to fly, follows the others around.
They dont live do they, if you dont slaughter them, they die?

My entire experience with meaties is this:

I went to the fair in Monroe, and saw the biggest chickens I had ever seen in my life.
I said, "holy cow- look at the size of those chickens"...

there you have it. My experience.

I gave my angora doe a little piece of carrot yesterday.....she ended up having messypoo....and I had to clip around her toucus.

I have these treats that the petshop wanted me to try for free....neither my buck or doe will touch it. (at least I didn't pay for it)

When I was in HS, I found a rabbit wandering the neighborhood. We couldn't find the owners and ended up keeping him as a house-rabbit. He lived in a cage in our living room, was housetrained and in nice weather would be outside on a lead attached to the clotheline so he could wander the entire backyard. He would turn his nose up at pellets, but absolutely loved fresh veggies and Cheerios. His absolute favorite treat was Swiss Cheese! My dad would often eat swiss cheese and crackers in the evening while watching television. If Thumper was in his cage, he would grab one of the bars and shake the cage for all he was worth until someone let him out. He would climb up in my dad's lap and beg for the cheese!

No, not really. They are more likely to have leg problems, more likely to have heart problems, more likely to overheat, etc, etc. But they can and do live. I've had a CX roo that was well over a year before he got too big for his britches and I ate him. It was like being hit in the calves with a 30 lb bowling ball when he "attacked".

One of his breasts fed our family of four two dinners and one lunch. And we're not light eaters. LOL!

And as of right now the CX pullets who were spared last fall because I was too lazy to butcher them are my best layers. Egg a day gals. They'd have been 20 weeks in December so are... 32-ish weeks now and going strong.

The more you restrict their feed and encourage exercise the less likely they are to have issues. The roo I had was grown out for meat though, fed right up in the first 6-8 weeks and fared fine, so they can do it. The pullets I have now were forced to find most of their own feed in the beginning and that helped keep them slimmer and more fit, but they're still hefty gals. They roost up on the roosts, run and forage, lay eggs, etc though.
