Oh your daughter is adorable M.Sue

Daron - be sure to place your mother's MG Free Isa Browns from Townline either 1/2 mile away or upwind of your chickens who you suspect have MG or they will just get it from the wind/wild birds.

MG can stay in your hair and clothing for 2 days so perhaps someone else could care for your mom's chickens as you could inadvertently spread the MG by caring for both.

RaZ I came home from getting the fence and saw that she dug up the mums I planted out by the tree she is itching about.
Uugh. She sounds like one of THOSE kinds of city people...... the ones who like sterile, grass only lawns, preferably with no critters to speak. You got your work cut out for you! You still SURE you can't just rent that place out for those last 2 years???! No one who truly loves plants could've dug them, even for spite.

Do you know what kinds of willows are native to us? I may have boy and girl pussywillows, not 2 kinds! I didn't even know that there was a "boy" willow. The book i was reading yesterday said weeping willows are not native. :( but didn't mention pussywillows at all. Is there anything that willows are needed to host for? Sorry, so many questions, but i am still learning about natives, fits right into the permaculture style of gardening/landscaping i am trying to do :)

Oh, and i don't know if anyone is interested, lol, but those zinc chewable lozenges i was going on about to get rid of colds also work great to keep you from "glowing" your deoderant right off, ha ha ha!
I personally am waiting to do any real work 'till this heat wave has passed. Just sitting back, watching my flowers grow. One, mabie two of my green rose twigs are still hanging on to life..... so bummed that the dang heat HAD to hit in March, right after a major transplant!!! didn't see that one coming!

Well, Tulip time may be not as Tulip-y this year. According to what I just heard on 106.9, they are already beginning to bloom. Mine are not. Of course, I don't think the will. Other, Leila, and chicklets have discovered that part of the yard. Has anyone forgotten to turn off their lights before? Lol. Ok, sure that has happened. Anyway. I forgot. Roger was crowing to high heaven at 3:30 this morning. Good thing I guess. I was totally sleeping thru my alarm.

As you see I've poured one too many cups. If I drink both cups I wouldn't have a hand free to type, anyone needing a cup of coffee should help themselves.

Good morning all, wish I could drink coffee sounds real good,

wondered about the tulips, mine are not any wear near blooming but if this heat continues I am sure they will be,

can you put up a shade "tree" for them? maybe a pot with a hole in the bottom, or an umbrella, I have done the umbrella on plants a time or 2 works great!!

Opa, have you tried Hawaiian Kona blend? Or even Maxwell House Pacific Island blend? There's a real kick in the pants. Love the Kona. Smooth and a bit nutty..
I have tried and enjoyed several of the Kona coffees. The Maxwell House Pacific Island blend is a little light for my tastes. I prefer a more robust flavor like Folgers Black Silk.

I have been told they like jerusalem artichokes, so so far none that I planted came up these last two years. I can't remember what the particulars were, but I remember thinking the seeds were pretty needy. We'll see if I get anything this year.

Jerusalem Artichokes are tubers.

I just want your opinion on the heifer that we might be able to buy this weekend. I had found this ad on Craigslist-

She is due to calf for the first time in mid-spring. Beautiful, healthy, well tempered, grassfed guernsey/angus cross. She was weaned naturally. Must sell--moving out of state.

I had called the guy and asked him some questions, and he said that she was bred to a Lowline Angus bull, never been vaccinated, and is on just hay, never grain.
That sounds fine to me, but would like your input.

I can barely do anything outside, and have been having headaches from the heat. Almost 90 degrees today!

I hate it! I am so looking forward to cooler weather!!!

I had called Townline hatchery today, to check if their breeder stock are MG clean, and they said yes!

I had ordered some ISA Browns from them through the local feedmill., so my mom can have some eggs when I cull my current flock in a few months. I will be keeping them in the converted grow-out coop. I just disinfected it today with Vicrkon.

Can't really say one way or another based on the picture and information. Make sure you know your conformation, know how to look at udders, if the cow she's out of is on the property check her out. Angus tend to be flighty, keep that in mind. Good luck!

Tomorrow is still suppose to be nice. Temps aren't suppose to drop a lot til this weekend.

And even when they do they're only going down to the 50s and 60s. It's still going to be quite nice.
