Well....my third, one month old chick died last night! I have no idea what's wrong!

I know someone else asked but I think I missed your response. Are they having any symptoms? Have you done a post-mortem? What kind of set-up do you have for them?

AngelaB I'd also be interested to hear what kind of symtoms you're having with yours...mine are approaching 3 weeks and I worry about their health also. They seem fine, but you just never know. Sorry about your loss again

So sorry, Angela. I don't know why they are dying. If you want me to come over and take a look at your set up, I can. You've had chicks before, so you know what you are doing. I'm so confused.

Are your younger chicks on ground that your older chickens have been on? I just talked to Dr. Fulton at M.S.U. this week. He said that often when you start exposing the younger chickens to the ground/environment of the older flock, the younger chickens will die from disease/parasites that the older flock carries and has developed some resistance to.
If you are anywhere near M.S.U. they will do a necropsy for you, just keep the bodies of the chick/chicks chilled. They prefer to have more than one chicken to observe. Otherwise you could test your older flock by doing a fecal check to look for parasites or even a swab of the throat to look for respiratory disease (p.m. me if you need the details of that).

Can I ask for prayers for a co-worker's son. Little Lucas is only 7 months old and was born with congenital heart disease. He had a very rough first few months and today he went in for open heart surgery to remove a pulmonary band, plugs holes, and patch an artery. The surgery took 6.5 hours and he is currently still sedated because there was a setback. He developed an air pocket around his lungs and they had to place a chest tube.

Prayers said.

I am so sorry.

Congrats on the new chicks snowflake. I had thought about getting some of the freedom rangers.

One question..if it is a bogus ticket..then why point out the bare grass and the 'pond violation'..and want to see in your garage?
I tend to be suspicious.

Does ticket have a number on it? Is it written on 'official ticket paper'? He told you to call for a court date...that definitely would be real...
I didn't say it was bogus, I'm suggesting that it is worded so that when I challenge it, it would have to be dismissed because it wasn't properly issued.

Does anyone still have the link to the DNR and the pigs??? I was telling the relatives about it, and they didn't believe me. I had wanted to post on my FB about it, but with all those kids underfoot last week.......

Thanks for all the reassurances about the eggs, now i just gotta sneak a few away from her, she is hoarding too many for her size. :D I think that's why she stopped setting last week, she saw me take a few.... I want her to have some of my round girl's eggs, plus some of hers. :)
