Mom, she may just be a good person in a bad place, like you. Can't help it sometimes.

She may be. Or she may be a 23ish yr old girl/woman hanging out with some bad choice people because she prefers to.

Either way, I talked with her, chatted with her..Dog wasnt growling at her. just the men.

LG incubators are famous (well, notorious) for producing poor hatches. There is a thread dedicated to helping those with LG's improve their hatches. Some of them apparently have temp swings and hot spots that are very difficult to work with.

I agree. Way too many people have terrible hatches with those cheapy LGs. Even after they've added a fan kit -- at which point it's not even all that cheap anymore. Better to invest in a nice incubator up front; you end up wasting more money in eggs and electricity to hatch 10-20% at a time than you would have spent on a reliable 'bator to begin with.

Learned the hard way on so many things that it pays to invest when it comes to certain things.

A little bummed that I didn't realize ChickenStock does in fact fall on a rabbit show date. Last year I could pull off both at the same time because the rabbit show was in Mason and I had someone put my rabbits on the show tables while I was gone...this year it's in Ionia so no such luck. I'll be skipping the rabbit show to come to ChickenStock!

I have 2 BR Roos that are 11 months old that need to be rehomed. I'm hoping a MI person will want them for their flock. Never a health issue, well cared for. I hate to send them to auction. Pass the word if you know of anyone. I'm in Twin Lake (between North Muskegon and Holton on M120).

They have been together since birth so I'd like to send them away together. PM please. Thanks for considering.

Hi Everyone,
My busy weekend is almost over.....Thank Goodness. I'm not gonna get to work on the coop today as I was hoping too. DS & I didn't get home till almost midnight last night and we need to go back to the barn & unload the trailer. It was late when we arrived back and no one had the desire to unload it....We did put the horses in their stall though! lol
While we were gone my DH was busy drawing up ideas for a chicken tractor. I think we are going to it build it with the plan of having it mainly for chicks but able to use as a permit coop if the issue arises.

Well off to finish my busy weekend......Everyone have a great day.....It's sunny out....yippeeee!!!

Here is a pic of my DS with her placements. She was happy with the day but was definitely ready to head home by the end of the show.

I am soooo glad I didn't put my new chicks under the broody - Boysenberry. This afternoon I find she left all her chicks. Two were dead and the rest shivering. I brought them in and put them with my chicks and we'll see if they make it. I've had it with miss broody and she's going into a cage. On the other hand her sister - Blackberry is a great mom and has her little flock out scratching.

Hurrah, I can walk today. Well, it's more of a limping shuffle but I'm semi-mobile again. Still not sure what I'll be able to do but I'm going to try to do something.

I need to figure out a better way to provide a warm shelter for the ducklings in case it gets too cold at night. Right now the 100 gallon brooder is on it's side with a heat lamp aimed inward. I'm not sure if that will be enough for 4 week old mallards. Any thoughts?

I had to cull one this morning. Pretty much did me in. I am almost positive is was ingesting bedding ome way or another. They were different types of birds, and the woman I got then from I not Having any issues. The bedding I had very small particles (along with big ones) I'm pretty sure those are what to ingested and over time blocked them up. I prefer not to is discuss it any longer, my kids are devastated, nd stress I causing my epilepsy to flair.

I have changed to straw and new feed for our younger chicks. They are also placed in a different area of the house.
