Good afternoon everyone!

Silly - sorry about the bator. I would totally take it back :(

I candled my eggs this morning and I am sure there are some in there that are not doing anything...I will decide later this week to pull eggs. I have a hard time giving up on eggs. No stinkers so I am good. It's so cool to see ones that are goofing about inside the egg :D

NEWS FLASH: My frizzle laid her first egg yesterday!! At over a year old :/ ....yeaaaaay

you don't have a banty? i have to say, i think that's smaller than my banty cochin's eggs!!!!

Nope, no banties here. Just my mature hens and the four babies, two cockerels and two pullets that hatched on Jan. 19. I did a search to see what the youngest recorded age for a pullet laying was and I found a few sites that said 15 weeks. Curious to see if I get any more.

The sun is shining but it's too cold to do anything outside besides the regular chicken chores so I guess this will be a laundry and aquarium cleaning day.

RaZ, I eat like you do. It's too much trouble to cook for one person so fast and easy is the answer for me. Sometimes a beer and popcorn is dinner. I eat a lot of salad in the summer and sometimes make a huge pot of chili and freeze some in the winter. But for the most part it's a nuked potato or Kraft Mac and Cheese from a box. Frozen nuked burritos are also big on the menu. Not healthy at all, I know, but after working outside all day or cleaning house, the last thing I want to do is cook. Good thing I don't have to worry about anyone but myself or they'd starve.

My silkie eggs I ordered arrived at the post office today...going to swing in and pick them up after work and throw them in the bater when I get home. Crossing my fingers they made it through shipping unharmed. I put about 30 of my own in the bator yesterday so hopefully we'll be hearing lots of peeping going on at my house in a couple weeks!

Ive got to get him used to the chickens first, then work my way up in animals. heheh

What a cold day!! I couldnt believe it...outside yesterday in a tank top and sweating, today freezing my butt off. Stinks. Ok so since I'm a first time chicken parent....what can you guys tell me about the personality of Wyandottes? I'm afraid I might have 2 roos on my hands, but I really don't know if's a breed thing or a gender thing. Those two are always getting in each other's faces and look like they are challenging each other, and they peck each other, and look like they chest bump sometimes. It makes me laugh. They have tried to do this to the others (who are all pullets) and they get no response. What do you think? I have no idea since I've never had chickens before so just curious on thoughts. Wasnt sure if that breed was just more feisty, or if they're male, or none of the above? I had fun with them outside all day yesterday; it took me twice as long as it probably should have to work on my coop but I had to keep stopping to watch their antics.
