hi guys!! I am from Lansing, thats right, the heart of Lansing where chickens are not an option. :) But now I live in Florida, around St Augustine, in the country, with 1.5 acres and 12 chickens. Just wanted to say HEY to my Michigan peeps!!!! i love reading the posts on this thread, and love seeing all of the cities that I know and love!! When I left MI, I was living in Mason-Holt area. I truely love my Florida life, but miss lilacs! too hot here for them :(. Anyway, we have 6 Sex Link pullets, 4 Barred Rocks, and 2 Bantams (maybe Belgian d'Anvers fingers crossed). Lven the chicken life!!! :) GO STATE!! GO GREEN!!!

Nope. I'm trying to throw your DH / BF off the trail so I can swoop in and steal you both away.

My mum has a big banana tree thing that she has had for years, but it doesn't produce any fruit. Don't know if that's the way it goes up here or what, though.

Sarah, Ya know...its always the handful of wingnuts out there that give the good ones a bad name...whether its cops, snowmobilers, motorcyclists....any group....really.

While I am glad to wake up, I just wish it had been a little later. Closer to sunrise would be so much better.

Juise, signing up isn't necessary for coming to Chickenstock. The signup roster is only to give us some idea of how many people will be attending. Also seeing your name listed may be all the incentive someone else might need to make the decision to attend.

Boy you're up early, Opa!

I was surprised to see anyone add to the thread at this time, as I thought I seemed to be the only one that stayed up this late, but the fact that I haven't been to bed yet and you're getting up is slightly disturbing. Go back to bed!!

And thank you for actually answering my question, as Raz was ever so helpful.

I doubt seeing my name on the list will make anyone sign up, lol,

but I will add my name to the list if at any point I have even a loose grasp of whether or not I can go. I hope so. I would like to.

Plus, despite my despicable online behavior, in reality I am rather painfully shy, and am perfectly capable of attending chickenstock without ever managing to introduce myself to a single one of you.

Ya'all are intimidating, you know that?

I've been trying to contrive to possibly go all by myself, *gasp* though DH is rather hesitant to let me do that, since we have no cell phone. And.. I don't know, I might be eaten by chickens, or something? Uh... Nova, you wanna let me borrow your number?

Sarah and Juise and there was one more..sorry I forgot your screen name...

I have never taken my husband to Chickenstock.

And its quite simple, really.

I dont want him to tell me when its time to leave, that I dont NEED this chicken or that,,,,that we have enough....etc etc etc...

I MAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY take him this year, but I will make sure he has his fishing pole and tackle box so he can go across the road and fish. That way, I can slip some critters in the truck. I really want him to meet those names I always talk to. AND so he can have some of Sam's famous smoked chicken.....

but maybe not. Maybe I wont let him come after all because I plan on buying that brooder from Hillbilly Hen and seriously I have no idea how its going to fit in the truck. THats why I asked her for measurements.

AND you all talk alot. It took me an hour to catch up this morning.

GOOD Morning everyone....

RAZ I just had an idea...

YOU have a truck...wouldnt the brooder I buy from HH fit in your truck?

Because if I bring the five coolers full of drinks like I do every year AND my girls...AND chickens....

There is not going to be any room in my truck.

Sam-

Something wakes me up at 2:20 every morning.

I have no idea what it is. It drives me crazy. I get up, then the dogs say YAYYYYYYYYY LET US OUT...of course my bladder is happy too...nothing seems amiss...and i have no idea how to figure out what wakes me up. I dont recall any sound..everything is sleeping. Kids, dogs, chickens..
I should run a recorder for a night. Then I could listen to it and see what it is that wakes me. Neighbor, perhaps. Coming home or leaving...

But it generally takes me a half hour/hour to fall back asleep. After I let the dogs back in. I have forgotten to do that, and then they bark once I am finally falling back asleep.

Mom, it is most likely habitual now.

If I were still married to the ex, I would not bring him. He was a very standoffish kind of guy. Super shy, but quite congenial when you got to know him. Lol. My baby daddy... What a messy term... Says that he'd like to go simply because I am bringing the boys. I was thinking of just bringing jace and leaving aiden with him, but I know aiden will have a rip roaring good time. He is that kind of kid. Both really are a sweet and adorable type of heathen. Lol.

The ducks have found a hole in the fence. When its light out, I am going to have to go on a hole hunt. I caught them pretty quick though. It was getting dark, and they weren't up for wandering far.

First work, then I am going to mess around the rest of the day. Don't know what I am going to do... But messing will probably be the order of the day.

Welll...I have taken the eggs off the turner.

Not knowing when they are due to hatch makes it very tricky to know when to stop them. I think they were incubated as they were laid- so each egg is one day later than the other..but two of them look like they are very close.

Guess we wait and see.

I am getting excited to go see my remaining brother in Indiana this weekend. It will be nice to get away with the girls for a day.
They love when its just us because the rules are more lax...like, we are allowed to laugh at the dinner table- and I dont expect us to sit there as stones, silently putting food into our mouths. My husband believes laughter does not belong at the table. Which, when it is ME who is having a fit of giggles is quite interesting. I cant even make eye contact with my daughters- because that will definitely cause one of us to laugh outloud- and then we are in 'trouble'. They are not as disciplined as I am to 'swallow your laugh'...
besides the hotel we are staying at has a pool. And they can swim and goof off. And Mom really doesnt care. As long as they are behaved around others, and dont run screaming up and down the hallway or do anything to disturb the other hotel guests, they can have fun. They are old enough to now go down to the pool without me- just with each other. Young enough that they feel privledged to do so..:)

I hope you all have a great day. Im off to work now. I will read all 299 posts to catch up once I get home. Chat away, friends!
