I think that is generally not recommended. Is there any way to add more roosting space for them so they don't have as much to fight about?

What is not recommended? Letting her roost on her waterer? I didn't! I took it out immediately and set it up so she couldn't kick it over again. They have plenty enough space, and even the roosting stick is big enough to hold 4 of the 6 chicks. They just don't want to share. They usually just let Pearl have it, but today the other chicks finally tried to stand up to her.

Oh, Raz, you're still up, that makes it a little less like to talking to myself.

Unless I'm ignoring you...

Hehe, no, no, I meant about adding a chick weeks younger than the others to your chicks.

I've had my chicks for two weeks now, and they are still doing great! They are getting quite feathery, and finally some of the other chicks are putting up a real challange to the current 'top chick,' Pearl. Actually, one of the chicks that doesn't often get a turn on the roosting stick overturned their waterer today, and decided to roost on it.

It was cute. I think I want to add a silkie to my 6 chicks, but I'm wondering if that would work out, if I bring in a baby chick that is weeks younger than the rest?
Probably not a good idea to bring in a younger chick while the others are establishing their pecking order.

I'm sorry, I am still chuckling over you thinking I reprimanded you about letting your chick roost on the waterer.

How could you possibly let her do that!?!

Lol! I'm new here! I'm bound to get scolded at some point! Plus I'm tired...I go to college full-time online, plus take care of my son all day, who will be 3 on Sunday. He was particularly exausting today. I also jumped the gun when we had a warm spell a few weeks ago, and planted 12 of those huge flats with 48 slots each of flowers and tomatoes and peppers. I have to clean out a large portion of my house nightly to bring them in so they don't freeze. With all of the living things around me to take care of, I'm just incredibly pooped! I wouldn't trade it for the world though. :)
