There are a few brands making 'toe-shoes' now, so Vibram isn't the only company selling them now. I don't know much about the quality for the other brands, but they are a bit cheaper than the five fingers shoes.
Also, barefoot and minimalist running are becoming more popular, so more companies are making extremely thin shoes that really only offer protection your feet and nothing else.

Good morning everyone, and talk to you all tomorrow!

Hope the weather is good, we are planning on taking 94 across to Kalamazoo, then dropping down.
Destination : Goshen, Indiana.

Have a great day!

Tonight was also the night for seeing vultures. Really never noticed them much around us but we had a group of 6 flying out back also. I really kept my eye on them cause the chickens were out. Don't know much about them except I see them eating road kill on the shoulder of the road. They didn't come too close to us or the chickens...would they go for the girls or do they just perfer the dead stuff? The owl also ignored the girls or just didn't see them.

Vultures only eat what is already dead. So don't worry about them. However, if you have a bunch in the area, something is dead and they are a nice warning because other scavengers are going to be around also. A fox would love to pick up a chicken on it's way to a carcass.

I think I will put some guinea eggs under my broody. (thanks Olive) My son's 4-H leader wants some and we have lavenders which are a bit harder to find. Now to find the eggs they are hiding!

Morning......chilly but sunny and not I'm going to complain. Went to TSC yesterday like I planned and those darn rooster sculptures are still $50 bucaroos. As much as I really, really, really, want one I just couldn't fork the money over. They still have a few of them.....don't think they are selling ($$$) so I'll continue to watch & see when they go on sale. I don't care if I have to wait til the end of the season!

Yes I do, my brain was just on shut down mode and it was late...thanks any how.

Same thing happened when the Crocs became so popular. I checked these out for I never heard of them. They sure are funky looking & pricey. I guess where comfort is the main concern it really doesn't matter what they look like. Crocs are funny looking too and the family each own a pair or two....can't beat them for price & comfort. (the original brand)

I think the whole "almost barefoot" thing is cool with them, and it's why I tried them originally, but what keeps me coming back is actually how my feet feel after I take them off. It's incredible. No matter what I've been doing it's like my feet have been to their own personal spa all day.

I've got to agree. For me it's not even "almost barefoot" it's "better than barefoot". I absolutely love mine. I haven't looked at any of the other brands but I will say this about the price of the Five Fingers: Yes, they're expensive but they're seemingly going to last forever.

I've had mine for around 2 years. The first year of that I wore them all day, every day. And this was when I lived in New York and didn't have a car so I was walking everywhere. There is no discernible wear on the soles. At all.

It kind of reminds me when I was a kid and spent a ton of money on Teva sandals and my Mom couldn't believe I spent that much on a pair. 10 years later I had my I told you so moment when I mentioned to her that total cost of ownership on the pair that I had been wearing for 10 years (and was wearing at the time) was around $7 a year.

I own two pair of finger shoes, one pair of Vibram and one pair of Fila. I use the Vibram at the gym and the Fila which have a little more structure in the sole for around the house. The Fila were significantly cheaper (but still not cheap), I think around $45-50.

I hope your weather is better than Germany, it's another day of high winds, rain and now about 1/2" of hail on the ground. To top it off it looks like my youngest is officially sick, he is downstairs in the lazyboy with a fever of 103.

Have a great day.

I have a pair of Ariat cowboy boots that I bought last year at the stallion expo in East Lansing. I have never found cowboy boots to be very comfortable, but when I pulled these ones on it was like they were made for me. I have worn them all day, riding and walking both, with no discomfort. It really does make a difference that you get a pair that fits you just right.

Just like Opa I have a collection of boots intended for different uses, but only 1 pair of heels. Not very girly, I guess.

All winter we had 30-40 turkeys in the yard on a daily basis. For several weeks we have watched the toms trying to intimidate each other while also trying to attract the attention of the hens. Many times they would be strutting and displaying within 20' of the house. Friday 4 large toms spent the entire day here.

Turkey season opens on Monday and as in previous years the birds must know that I'm a hunter. The have disappeared, vanished, evaporate, gone, no where in sight. I don't understand how they always know when to leave.

ok I am now all caught up.

Most mornings I read BYC with 2 Bichons on my lap.

I spent yesterday morning testing out spinning wheels. Gosh they are expensive ...and of course, I liked the most expensive one.

My birthday is coming up...so maybe my DH will just give me money towards getting it.

I also sold 3 more rabbits yesterday, so now I am only down to 3 more to rehome. So now I have room for my baby french angora that will be ready for me in just over a week. SOO excited!

I let Lola hang out in the yard with me today. She had a goodtime munching on all the clover that popped up in our lawn today. I need to build a run for the angoras becuase I can't let my French (Clark) out like this. He'd totally take off. LOL so he is confined to just playing in the house. Here she is exploring the fire pit.

I swear they have little calendars or something. The Elk used to do that where I lived in Montana. They'd hang around town or in the hills and such but 2 days before hunting season they would all migrate into Yellowstone. And I don't mean they would disappear, oh no. They would all (hundreds of them) move in about 200 yards inside the park boundary and just hang out on the hillsides next to the road just to taunt everyone.

Apparently they have maps, too.
