GUESS WHAT!!

Ok, I have a problem. I need help. I have a disease. A sickness. I wonder if there is a medication for what I have.

I am getting faverolles on Wednesday! YIPPEE!! Like I said I am disturbed. LOL. I think I will get two SS also if Randy has any. He's just hatched out the faverolles, and I hope when I get there he'll have a few SS too. I know. I am disturbed.

NOW, all I need is a few Mottled orps and I will have my Jubilees in a few generations!

Must be catching, I just ordered Mille fleur and porcelein de'uccle eggs for no good reason I can think of.

I had the great good fortune to go riding in Portugal. The guy (who didn't speak English) sized us up and put my relatively inexperienced and somewhat anxious companion on a sweet gelding. Then they pulled a Lusitano stallion out for me, with a warning to keep him away from the geldings. On an english saddle. What a ride!

Drainage. Thats it. I'd be afraid it would not drain well enough, and the bottom would always be wet. If you've ever left a pile of leaves and dirt on a driveway for a while, while working it, when you get thru it, there is a lot of water that hasn't drained away... Maybe someone else has a different experience, but I just wouldn't want to try it. My own personal opinion. I could be wrong.

Silly girls!!

Most pest animals' pelts are not worth keeping except during their season. But I didn't need anything to send it in to be tanned. My brother started in high school with trapping and taxidermy. He makes very expensive fur blankets to sell. Last year I hand quilted a beaver pelt blanket for him - huge pain!! but worth the money!
I had never shot anything until I ended up with my hubby. He was military so knows his guns and we have loads of them now. I'm not a big hunter, not enough time, I sit in the blind and think of the thousand things at home waiting for me. I don't however, have any hesitation to kill a predator although fox are so cute I always feel a little bad.

I imagined most pelts aren't all that great, mostly because they come from pest animals. I figured if I got around to learning how to do simple tanning a less than great hide would be a better starting point, so if it gets ruined it won't be that much of a loss.
All of it really comes down to if I ever take up hunting. BF will mention teaching me how to shoot properly, then drag his feet about it and never get around to it. He's not much of a hunter either, so I'd have to find someone to go with. Dad may take up hunting on my grandparent's farm again, so I could probably go with him. If nothing else, BF should at least show me how to shoot so I can deal with pests we've trapped rather than waiting for him to get home and do it.
