Oh my gosh, finally a morning without frost on the deck! It is warm here, above freezing! Coffee here has definitely been brewed and my goat kids have tummies full of warm milk now.

With today's weather I'll bet the number of posts will go up. Sounds like it is going to be a little damp. Glad we got the lawn mowed yesterday. Reading a book sounds like a real good plan.

Tomorrow at 0 dumb thirty I am going to start heading towards towards southwest Missouri while my oldest son heads this way. David is going to go to see his mother and brothers and help Joe get a bunch of the things done that he has been unable to do since breaking his clavicle and tearing a rotator cuff. Not sure where we will meet up but David will then complete the trip with Joe and I will head back home.

It will be nice to see Joe since it was October when I saw him last. Having children living so far away is difficult. Seeing them only once a year is difficult. The time you have with them is never enough.

Just finished working the LA Times crossword puzzle. I must be smarter on Mondays; it only took six minutes to complete it. By Sunday it takes 20 to 30 minutes.

Daron - I'm so glad you were able to feel Gert's pigs. You can buy a fence tester at TSC. It's a handy little tool to have around.

I am going to use the rainy day to plant my pots for my container garden. I wish I had a heat mat to get my chats faster... Oh well. One of these years.

Damp indeed. So glad I got the coop cleaned. Today will be a day for doing the stuff I've been putting off.

Had quite an excitement this morning.

Came home from work this morning early (I had asked my boss if I could have the morning off, but he needed me, but said that I can leave an hour and a half earlier.) so I can make it to church this time,

I have to ask....Did you make it to church? lol

The last time, the bull (wasnt supposed to be a bull, but he was indeed) broke out and ended up on the main road. Police came with a ROPE.

Asked my nephew if he could put it around the bulls neck. Nephew asked, "Are YOU going to hold on to the end of the rope?"

What was they the cops reply??

Also....I Think it was you who wanted the tin sculpted rooster @ TSC. I got a flyer on Sat. stating they will be on sale Wed @ 20% off. So check with your store. Sale start dates varies from store to store.

Good morning Michigan, much warmer and a little rainy this morning - much-needed too, as we are very dry here so far this spring. Put the 7 week old chicks in with the big girls Saturday, and they all seem to be fine. They were penned next to each other for about 2 weeks before the merge. The little kids even put themselves to bed the first night, usually I have to go out and stuff chicks in the pop door the first few nights.

Farmerboy, even better than a fence tester is a little device called a Fence Alert. You clip it onto the wire, and if the power is interrupted it starts blinking. Mine hangs where I can easily see it from the house, and has let me know several times when a tree has gone down on the fence.

Olive - Hope your toe heals quickly, funny how something so small can make a huge difference in you mobility!

Mom - yes you can transplant ferns, I've done several. They will trail out and spread too so make sure they're where you want them to be!

Farmerboy - So cute about the piggies! I am still having discussions on pigs at the house. We'd really like to get a barn set up soon, so it may be a little while yet before we can get them.

Fuzzy - the stuff in old linoleum that was bad for us was asbestos. It was OK in it's sealed form, but once you started to cut it up to haul out, then it became dangerous and that's why it was usually left behind.

Mom - Don't you just love the dog n pony shows when the big boss comes to town. Everyone here scrambles .. but if everything is kept like it should be, there's no need for scrambling (not to mention the fact that I'm not a bum kisser either.)

Opa - congrats again on the turkey!!

We spent all day Sunday working on converting the little gazebo into a coop. We have to finish making a door and I'm going to get some plexi to make windows for it and I need to finish the roof and stuff on the interior. I'm going to paint it white inside and outside, I will probably stain it though I hate to lose the old weathered look. I wonder if a deck sealer would work. I'm putting a small vent on the peak, but not sure yet where I'm going to put some vent holes. should vent holes be near the top or bottom of the coop? (I Bought DH a table saw to make it easier to rip the barn boards... we needed one, but it seems the best way to bribe him to do projects I want to do)... of course, now that we have the saw, I can do some of these things on my own!! Here's some in progress photos.

I added nailer boards at the bottom, tightened everything up and removed the lattus.
We put up barn boards at each corner section.
After we finished the corners, we cut a board to fit in the center.
Once that was finished we added the trim at the top and bottom.
The baton boards covered the cracks
I finished covering most of the roof in the dark.... Still have to put something on the ridges and a vent at the peak to finish.

Almost forgot, I need to add a pop door!! LOL!

They still hated to be picked up but at the end of it they didn't run screaming when the kids shot by. One of them sounds really hoarse and one of the Indian Runner never stops chirping for the most part so I'm not certain what their problem is.

The Runner is probably going to chirp quite a bit. The Pekins (like mine) will bond with each other and probably stay at arms length except for food. Mine gladly eat out of my hand. I have a single Khaki Campbell that is quiet when I'm around but cries (chirps) when I leave the area. It's a chirper too! The KC was bred from Runners at one point in time. Anyway, our KC likes nothing more than to get in the dogs bed and lay down. Oh yeah, when those Pekins get older they'll quack all the time for food! Have fun.
