Just wanted to leave a quick "Hi" while I have a free moment... 2 more days until Silly Chicken's eggs are due to hatch under my broody... I'm getting so nervous! :)

I'm going to try and catch up with this thread, but it's not likely, lol...

Dropping on by to share a few pictures from today, it was so nice to finally have some decent weather. The girls with the maypole:

Your girls are blessed to have such a great Mom.
Bella went to the woods for the first time today, and the calves showed her their favorite spots in the ravine. I took a bunch of pictures if you guys don't mind.
Don't stop! You take great shots, thanks for sharing!
Coop looks great!

Good morning Michigan, cool and hazy here with much-needed rain predicted for today.

So my sister in Naperville lost one of her two pet hens last week. Since I am heading down there this weekend, I offered to bring her a replacement. Her daughter called and asked if I would bring a chicken that lays blue eggs, and I said Sure. The only blue-egg layers I have right now are my two older hens, retirees, that lay an egg about every 4-5 days. So I am taking her a little 4 week old polish egger hatched out of Taprocks eggs, she is blue and very sweet with a little topknot. But you know you just can't have one chick, so I am also taking a bantam Cochin pullet. Not going to tell her about that though - Surprise!

Wow, that went by fast! Good luck with them!

Opa... you made me cry. I am sorry you don't get to spend more time with your kids, but I am glad you have such a wonderful picture to remind you of a wonderful memory.

Farmerboy... Don't stop the pictures!! I did not know that was called Jack-in-the-pulpit... I was excited to see it coming up again in the same spot this year. I had never seen it before! My BF has orchids and we have always been intrigued by different flowers. Thanks for sharing!

Good morning! Still grey and wet here, but I am enjoying watching the birds at the feeder. I have had a cardinal, house wren, woodpecker,?titmouse?, black squirrel... The cardinal is my favorite. He nested in a little maple tree next to my neighbors house. This year, I think they chose a tangled mess of grape vines. His lady friend is so pretty with her dull brown feathers and bright red beak! She prefers to eat on the ground while he knocks the sunflower seeds down to her... Maybe they will plant me some beautiful sunflowers this year!

Olive Border Collie's are awesome dogs but a have to tell you I have a Australian Cattle Dog so I know all about them having to be brave. That's how I was with my dogs if I couldn't watch them they had to go in the crate, they didn't mind it though. I always had toys and things for them. Sounds like a blast!
ACD's rule, BC's drool, lol! We have a friends that breeds BC's so there's a rivalry between us. She has a bumper sticker that says "My Border Collie is smarter than your Honor Student". Maybe but my ACD is, IMHO, better all-sround. All of the herding dogs are a chore. Right now my ACD is learning that ducks are not cattle and biting a duck is not like fetlocks on a cow!

Mom, I sent you a PM.

A nice couple, and their 4 rugrats, stopped by last night to pick out a breeding pair (FGs) and when I said which ones they replied "all of them". I never have a problem selling my rabbits but usually one, or two, at a time.

Farmerboy, I love the pictures, don't stop posting them!

The photos of the cows in the woods are so pretty, it looks like lovely land. Your mystery flowers wild geraniums and false rue anemone.

(Unless Raz says they aren't

I am quite jealous of where you live.

I think there might be both types of rue anemone in the picture. The False Rue Anemone is a good bit taller and the leaves are deeply lobed and occur in sets of 3. Rue anemone grow to about 4 inches high, their leaves are groups of 5 to 8, just below the flowers.

If you are out in the woods or swamps, a good book to have is "Wildflowers of Michigan Field Guide" by Stan Tekiela. It's small enough to carry in a pocket and groups the flowers by colour.

DH surprised me with a new little window, he found yesterday, for the coop ! We got it in and trimmed out just before the rain started.

He also had a frame made up for the door so I installed the boards on it, but we couldn't install it. (need to move the coop to it's place before installing the door to make sure it all lines up). Hopefully we'll get it done and ready for the Silkies to move in this weekend.

EMAW - Germans make some awful good beer!
Silly,

Love the look of the new coop, the window looks awesome.

Yes the Germans have nearly perfected the art of beer making, but the Monks in Belgium have perfected the art. I am bringing a stash of wine back with me and might even put in a couple flats of Belgium beer, I have to see how much state taxes are going to be, more research to do. So who knows what I might have in the area….LOL

I don't know where you are in the state, but the distributor in the Kalamazoo area can get real German beer, and yes I am a beer snob. I was at one of the local establishments last August in downtown Kalamazoo and they had Weihenstephaner on tap, which is a brewery in Bayern (Bavaria) (oldest brewery in the world 1390 I think). I was very pleasantly surprised.

Olive - I have a Border Collie. She is 3 years old now. She actually is very smart. She was out herding sheep with me and 2 of the older ewes sent her flying when she didn't expect it. She ran out of the sheep pen and now when I take her in there to herd them she hides behind me. It's like she's saying " hit her, not me " LOL. Needless to say she is back at the trainers right now being re-trained. I do love her though. She is an awesome dog. Has no problem herding the barn cats.
